On the morning of September 21, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Government Standing Committee working with large enterprises on solutions to contribute to the country's socio -economic development.
Also attending were Deputy Prime Ministers : Tran Hong Ha, Le Thanh Long, Ho Duc Phoc; Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies; leaders of central ministries and branches; leaders of 12 leading economic groups and private enterprises of the country.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that since the beginning of the term, the Government and the Prime Minister have had many meetings with domestic and foreign enterprises, but this is the first time the Government Standing Committee has worked on a specific topic with enterprises; demonstrating the attention of the Party and State leaders to private enterprises - an important driving force of the country's economy.
The Prime Minister said that currently, the private economy contributes about 45% of GDP, generates about 30% of state budget revenue, attracts about 85% of the workforce; the corporate income tax contribution rate accounts for about 34%.

A large private enterprise force, accumulating sufficient capacity in terms of capital scale, technology level and corporate governance, with a brand reaching out to regional and world markets.
In the "war" against the COVID-19 pandemic, under the leadership of the Party, the management and direction of the State, the participation of the people, the help of international friends, businesses, including private enterprises, have made important contributions, helping Vietnam become one of the few countries that are behind and ahead in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Along with the fight against the pandemic, the world situation is unpredictable, especially the difficulties in economic development, businesses, including private enterprises, continue to join the whole country in overcoming difficulties and challenges to restore the economy, ensure major balances, control inflation, and promote growth.
Enterprises also actively participate in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and social security activities with the tradition of "mutual love", "national love, and compatriotism."
Informing that, although there are still many difficulties, after nearly 40 years of renovation, "our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position, and international prestige as it does today," and is entering a new phase of transformation, the Prime Minister hopes that businesses will continue to promote the tradition of patriotism, love for the people, and develop the country together, with the spirit of "working together, winning together, developing together;" promoting the spirit of national solidarity; with the motto "resources originate from thinking, motivation originates from innovation, strength originates from the people and businesses," businesses together with the whole country will create breakthroughs in national development.
The Prime Minister hopes that Vietnamese enterprises will be pioneers in innovation, actively participate in implementing strategic breakthroughs, including institutions, laws, and perfecting the socialist-oriented market economic institution; renew traditional growth drivers, take science and technology, and innovation as new growth drivers of the country, and develop the country rapidly and sustainably; strive to achieve major goals on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (2030) and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country (2025).
Among them, completing a number of iconic projects, such as the North-South high-speed railway and the expressway system; taking better care of social security, with the elimination of dilapidated and temporary houses by 2025; and no more poor households by 2030.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, enterprises and entrepreneurs always play a key role, are the main material production force of the economy, and play a very important role in the cause of building and developing the country. In nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation policy, with the correct policies and guidelines of the Party and the State, Vietnam now has more than 930,000 operating enterprises, of which 98% are small and medium enterprises; about 14.4 thousand cooperatives and more than 5 million business households.
Along with the strong growth in quantity, Vietnamese enterprises have continuously developed and expanded their scale in terms of capital, revenue, profit, and labor efficiency; demonstrating their role as the main force in managing and organizing production resources, creating products, goods, and services for society, promoting the growth and socio-economic development of the country.
In particular, a large private enterprise force has emerged, accumulating sufficient capacity in terms of capital scale, technology level and corporate governance, with brands reaching out to regional and world markets, becoming important driving forces of the economy such as Vingroup, Thaco, Hoa Phat, SOVICO, TH.
After nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process, Vietnam has risen from a backward economy to become one of the Top 40 leading economies, with a trade scale in the Top 20 countries in the world, and is an important link in 16 free trade agreements connecting with 60 key economies in the region and globally.
The size of the economy increased from 26.3 billion USD in the early years of Doi Moi to more than 430 billion USD in 2023.
Vietnam is considered by the United Nations and international friends as a success story, a bright spot in poverty reduction, and constantly improving the material and spiritual life of its people.
However, the world is witnessing many major changes, the emergence of new industries, changes in policies of major economies leading to shifts in investment flows and adjustments in the structure of trade and investment.
This poses both risks and challenges but also brings new opportunities and fortunes to countries. The new context is also posing new requirements in the country's economic development such as: green and sustainable growth, aiming to achieve net zero by 2050; attracting investment and creating breakthroughs for pioneering industries such as semiconductors, AI, green hydrogen; growth based on science-technology, innovation; promoting new growth drivers, coming from the circular economy, digital economy and new economic models.
At this Conference, the Government Standing Committee wants to listen to businesses share about their operations, difficulties and obstacles, propose solutions, share thoughts and visions, and work with large pioneering enterprises to identify and jointly implement national projects, find solutions to the country's major problems in order to achieve the goal of turning our country into a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030 and a developed country with high income by 2045 as set out at the 13th National Party Congress./.
