The Hungarian Prime Minister believes that Ukraine cannot win with military aid from the West, because Kiev will run out of military resources before Moscow.
"I hope the Ukrainians have a chance to survive this war, but everything must be based on the reality that the nature of cooperation between Ukraine and the West is a failure," Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told Germany's Bild newspaper on June 27.
According to Mr. Orban, the view that the weapons, financial and intelligence resources provided by the US and its European Union (EU) allies will help Ukraine win is a "misunderstanding of the situation".
"That is impossible. The problem is that Ukraine will run out of military resources before Russia and this is the decisive factor," he said.
According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, the notion that all of Ukraine would be controlled by Russia if Kiev were not supported by NATO is a "baseless hypothesis".
Mr Orban urged the parties to reach a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible, otherwise Ukraine "will suffer heavy material and human losses and unimaginable devastation".
However, he said the fighting would not stop if the US did not decide to end the conflict. "Ukraine is no longer a sovereign country. They have no finances, no weapons. They can only fight because of the support of the West," he explained.

Hungary is a member of the EU and NATO, but has refused to provide weapons or military equipment to Ukraine after the war between the country and Russia broke out in February 2022. Hungary has also repeatedly criticized the European Union's (EU) sanctions against Russia, as well as argued with other members of the bloc over support for Ukraine.
Prime Minister Orban, who took office in 2010, is considered the most pro-Russian leader among the 27 EU member states. Mr. Orban has said that Hungary will maintain economic relations with Russia, stating that Moscow is not a security threat to Budapest.
"I am fighting for Hungary. I don't care about Russia. I care about Hungary," Mr Orban said.
