Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit Vietnam in late 2023
At the meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the rapid and strong development of bilateral relations; affirmed their determination to implement the commitments made during the Vietnamese Prime Minister's visit to Singapore in February 2023, especially in economics , trade and investment.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong agreed to soon reach an agreement to supplement, amend and upgrade the Vietnam - Singapore Economic Connectivity Framework Agreement, enhancing cooperation in the field of e-commerce.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to enhance understanding and trust through maintaining the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels, creating a solid foundation for implementing comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. The two leaders also agreed to increase meetings at multilateral events, in addition to bilateral visits to review and promote the overall relationship between Vietnam and Singapore.
In 2023, the two countries will organize practical activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1973 - 2023) and the 10th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries (2013 - 2023). To commemorate these events, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong accepted the invitation to visit Vietnam in the second half of 2023.
The Singaporean Prime Minister agreed with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposal to promote the effective implementation of the Digital Economy - Green Economy Partnership (newly established), including moving towards establishing an inter-sectoral working mechanism in each country to discuss this issue; implementing the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of digital economy (February 2022), promoting cooperation in new growth areas such as digital economy, green economy, green energy, etc., contributing to the commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
Discussing regional and international issues, the two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation, maintain solidarity and promote the central role of ASEAN; and agreed to support each other's candidacy for international organizations and the United Nations.
The two Prime Ministers welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between VSIP Group and 9 Vietnamese provinces and cities to study cooperation in developing smart and sustainable VSIP industrial parks. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that this is a concrete step to implement the results of his visit to Singapore in February 2023; he hoped that the new generation of VSIPs would be effective, creating new momentum for growth in both countries.
Along with that, the two sides also agreed to pay attention to further promoting cooperation in other areas such as security, defense, education and training, and development of high-quality human resources, including a training program for senior officials of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Singapore.
The two governments of Vietnam and Laos are determined to remove obstacles and promote the implementation of key projects.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure at meeting Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone again and respectfully conveyed the warm regards of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other senior leaders of Vietnam to comrade Sonexay Siphandone and other leaders of the Lao Party and State.
At the meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, the two Prime Ministers agreed to coordinate to effectively implement high-level agreements and bilateral cooperation mechanisms; make joint efforts to enhance cooperation, promote economic connectivity, effective integration, and support each other in socio-economic development.
The two governments are determined to remove obstacles and promote the implementation of key projects, improve the investment environment; focus on directing the effective implementation of agreements and results achieved during the official visit to Laos and co-chairing of the 45th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh once again affirmed Vietnam's commitment to providing the highest level of support and assistance for Laos to successfully assume the role of ASEAN Chair 2024.
Prime Minister Sonesay affirmed that Laos is ready to support Vietnam's candidacy for seats in United Nations agencies and international organizations.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully invited the Prime Minister of Laos to visit Vietnam this year.
