According to the report of the Can Tho City Irrigation Department, the Tra Noc River emergency embankment project has a total investment of over 272.4 billion VND, a length of nearly 2 km, started on July 20, 2023, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Up to now, after 9 months of construction, the project has disbursed 54%, is ahead of schedule and can be completed ahead of schedule.

Due to the current high water level and the embankment following the tide, the construction unit is focusing on implementing the non-dependent items, waiting until night, when the water level is low, to start construction. Determined to complete the project and put it into use in 2024.
Recently, the situation of landslides on Tra Noc riverbank has been serious. Therefore, the project aims to prevent and control landslides, stabilize the Tra Noc riverbank and protect the safety of life, health and property of residents, infrastructure in the area, stabilize people's lives, contribute to ensuring land funds, and urban beautification in a civilized, clean and beautiful direction.

In recent years, flooding in Can Tho City has become increasingly serious and widespread, occurring more frequently, with higher levels of flooding and longer durations, causing great impacts and obstacles to many economic and social activities, affecting environmental sanitation and urban landscape.
Therefore, on this occasion, Can Tho City proposed a project to prevent flooding combined with landslide prevention and urban beautification with a total investment of about 4,515 billion VND and implementation period from 2024 to 2030. When completed, the project can protect about 2,800 hectares of area.
Regarding the proposal to implement a flood control project combined with landslide prevention and urban beautification, the Prime Minister agreed in principle and assigned the People's Committee of Can Tho City to coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant agencies to review, assess the impact, study the most effective plan, and report to competent authorities for consideration and decision.
Also in the afternoon of the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang expressway project.
The Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway Project Phase 1 started construction on the entire route in June 2023, and is expected to be completed and put into use in 2027. The project has a total investment of nearly VND 44,700 billion, a scale of 4 lanes, a total length of more than 188 km, with 4 component projects passing through 4 provinces.

Of which, component project 1 in An Giang province is 57.2 km long, component project 2 in Can Tho city is 37.2 km long, component project 3 in Hau Giang province is nearly 37 km long and component project 4 in Soc Trang province is 56.9 km long.
As one of the three horizontal highways of the Mekong Delta (along with My An-Cao Lanh, Cao Lanh-An Huu), the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang expressway project has its starting point connecting with National Highway 91 in Chau Doc City (An Giang) and its end point intersecting with Nam Song Hau National Highway, connecting the Tran De port access road (Soc Trang).

According to the report, the project is facing difficulties in sand filling. In particular, for component project 2 through Can Tho City, the demand for sand filling is about 7 million m3. Up to now, the site clearance work has been basically completed, but the contractors have only focused on constructing the bridge sections, and the road section has only had sand filling materials since mid-April. Currently, the functional sector of Can Tho City is continuing to remove difficulties, contacting the provinces in the Mekong Delta region to find more sand sources for the project.
Surveying the construction site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the efforts of localities, the Ministry of Transport and related units in implementing the project, and thanked the people who gave up their homes and livelihoods for the project to be constructed.
The Prime Minister requested agencies and localities in the region to continue to coordinate closely, complete procedures to exploit mines, including sea sand, and resolve issues regarding raw material mines for the project by May.
The Prime Minister also requested agencies, investors, contractors, engineers, workers and laborers to continue to make efforts in construction, determined to "overcome the sun and rain", disburse funds quickly, regain slow progress and accelerate in the coming time.
