Thank You performance by Saigon Choir
This is a night where musicians re-perform the entire competition program of Saigon Choir at the 7th International Choir Competition. Thank You is the 8th music night of Saigon Choir on its journey to conquer choral art since its establishment in 2016. Opening the concert, 70 members of Saigon Choir performed the song Fajar dan Senja (Dawn and Dusk) by Ken Stevens, bringing excitement to the program with unique sound effects. Following that were performances by the Saigon Female Choir, Saigon Male Choir, and the Mixed Choir, along with international works such as O Sapientia, Khorumi, Pal So Seong, Ubi Caritas, Cikala Le Pong Pong ... In particular, the group also brought Vietnamese works such as Nhac rung by musician Hoang Viet, Dem nam mo pho by musician Viet Anh. The songs were remixed by composer Truong Chi exclusively for Saigon Choir and these were the first choral works performed in Vietnam.
Thank You is a meaningful program in which Saigon Choir sends its most sincere thanks to the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, the audience and the units that supported the team in the competition. In early April, at the 7th International Choir Competition held in Hoi An City ( Quang Nam Province), Saigon Choir had the opportunity to represent Vietnam in the competition and at the same time contribute to strengthening the friendship between countries. Saigon Choir won 3 Gold prizes and 1 Special prize with excellent and carefully prepared entries.
Meritorious Artist Dang Chau Anh, a member of the competition's jury, shared that after 7 years of continuous learning and striving, Saigon Choir has truly reached the international level of choral singing. The judges highly praised the performances and recognized the efforts of Saigon Choir over the past 7 years of operation.
Saigon Choir is a rare choir in Vietnam, founded in June 2016 by teachers and students of the Vocal Music Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. This is also the first adult choir in Vietnam to win a series of prestigious international awards: Gold Prize at the International Choir Competition in Hoi An in 2017; Certificate of Excellent (equivalent to Gold Prize) in the A cappella Video Clip Competition at the World Choir Games 2021; 3 Gold Prizes, 1 Special Prize at the 2023 International Choir Competition in Hoi An.
