The forum serves as a space for exchanging and sharing experiences and strengths in technology, science , innovation, and digital transformation among representatives of French organizations and companies, in the context of active bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the Forum, Professor Serge Haroche, the 2012 Nobel Prize winner in Physics for his pioneering contributions to quantum physics, emphasized Vietnam's potential to gradually become a regional quantum technology hub.
According to Professor Serge Haroche, in the field of quantum physics, as in other fields, to develop research institutes and universities, it is necessary to create conditions for scientists to research topics they are interested in and then transfer that research into practice. It is crucial to create space with very favorable conditions for young, excellent researchers to conduct research; at the same time, Vietnam also needs to pay attention to research by the private sector. On that basis, to develop applied research, it is necessary to consider and harmonize the roles of the state and the private sector.
In addition, Vietnam focuses on creating a solid foundation for general education in basic science subjects such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry; at the same time, it has a long-term, continuous science development policy and significant financial support from the state for research projects.
Ambassador Olivier Brochet of France to Vietnam stated that 2025 will be the "French-Vietnamese Year of Innovation," launched by France to promote cooperation and exchange in the field of innovation between the two countries.
“This forum is an event that promotes scientific research and the development and application of strategic technologies; it is a bridge to promote public-private cooperation, connecting universities, government agencies, and businesses to create a sustainable innovation ecosystem in Vietnam,” Mr. Olivier Brochet affirmed.
Also at the Forum, Ms. Kim Ngoc Thanh Nga, Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC), affirmed that after Vietnam and France established a comprehensive strategic partnership, cooperation in innovation has become an important pillar in bilateral relations. Both countries share a vision for promoting trade cooperation, digital transformation, and sustainable development.
According to the Deputy Director of NIC, France, with its strengths in basic research, high technology, and a vibrant startup ecosystem, can support Vietnam in developing human resources, transferring technology, and establishing innovation centers. Conversely, Vietnam, with its dynamic market, young workforce, and ability to quickly adopt new technologies, is a promising environment for the practical implementation of innovative French ideas. This connection promises to open up many opportunities for strategic cooperation, contributing to boosting trade cooperation between Vietnam and France.
The forum "Unleashing the Innovation Potential of Vietnam and France" takes place in the context of 2025 being designated as the Year of Innovation between Vietnam and France, marking a significant step forward in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The event is not only an opportunity for both sides to strengthen ties, but also a chance to promote cooperation in strategic technology fields such as quantum technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and aerospace, contributing to the formation of a solid foundation for the development of science, technology, and innovation in the new era.
The forum also aims to concretize Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on promoting the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation; and at the same time, implement Decision No. 1131 of the Prime Minister on the List of strategic technologies and technology products.
The event is part of the “National Innovation Festival combined with the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition 2025” organized by the National Innovation Center ( Ministry of Finance ) in collaboration with the French Embassy in Vietnam and the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE).
