During the meeting, Mr. Jens Marklof stated that on this trip, the London Mathematical Society will attend the "Vietnam-UK Mathematical Meeting" conference, which will be attended by many leading mathematicians from around the world .

The conference provides an opportunity for researchers, lecturers, postgraduate students, and undergraduates to exchange and discuss current issues related to computer science and mathematics. The mathematicians invited to present papers are reputable scientists from both within and outside the country.

Founded in 1865, the London Mathematical Society is one of the oldest and most prestigious mathematical societies in the world. From 2025 onwards, the London Mathematical Society has decided to expand its activities globally and collaborate with other countries and mathematical societies worldwide.

During their visit to the Ministry of Education and Training , the London Mathematical Society proposed several areas for potential cooperation, including: organizing mathematics programs and competitions for students; holding mathematics seminars; and potentially collaborating on mathematics training programs.

Especially in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), concerted action is needed in research, training, application, and addressing the impacts of AI, such as its social effects and its role in teaching and learning.

Vietnam and the United Kingdom share many similarities in education, particularly in supporting teaching and promoting mathematics among young people. Therefore, common strategies and resource sharing are necessary.

Mr. Jens Marklof also proposed strengthening cooperation with the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, an organization under the Ministry of Education and Training; so that the Institute can become a trusted source of mathematics and its applications in the region, and a bridge between the United Kingdom and Southeast Asia.

Welcoming the cooperation proposals from the London Mathematical Society, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc said that in recent years, the role of mathematics has been enhanced thanks to the development of new technologies using more powerful and diverse mathematical tools. Mathematics has a great opportunity to develop.

Vietnam is currently implementing mechanisms to gather mathematical talents domestically and internationally in order to best develop their skills; aiming for Vietnamese mathematics to be among the world's leading countries in the near future. Therefore, cooperation with international organizations, including the London Mathematical Society, is essential.
