South Korean rapper Zico is returning to the music scene with his latest digital single, "SPOT!", featuring Blackpink's Jennie. The hip-hop track is a tribute to the rapper's decade-long solo career.
Even before the official announcement of the new song's release, Zico has been attracting attention by gradually revealing videos and photos featuring Jennie. The posts were later revealed to have been taken during the recording of the new song.
Is it true that Jennie collaborated with her senior in a new song?
Zico then interacted with fans live on Instagram, discussing the new song. Jennie joined in on the live broadcast.
Expressing his anticipation, the rapper said, "Since April 18, I've been releasing snippets of new songs every day. Although work is still ongoing, it's been 1 year and 9 months since I last released a song under my name. I've been busy introducing various activities. I hope you guys are eagerly waiting for the release."

The 31-year-old went on to share details about Jennie's contribution to the song.
"Jennie put her heart and soul into the recording process. She showed professionalism by suggesting edits even when I was pleased with her performance. Jennie played a key role in perfecting this song. The enjoyable collaboration yielded positive results," he said.
Zico is also a rare "exception" that Jennie appears in a MV. Throughout her 8-year career, the female rapper from Blackpink has never appeared in another artist's MV. Jennie only played the female lead once in G-Dragon's MV "That XX" in 2012, before her official debut.
Zico is Jennie's senior in the industry. The two stars are known to have a close relationship but have never interacted publicly in real life. The fact that Jennie both contributed her voice and acted in a music video for Zico caused a stir among the public.
Previously, OA's representative (ODD ATELIER) spoke up about Jennie releasing a solo album in June 2024.
OA's representative confirmed that there are "no confirmed plans" for Jennie's solo album release. The announcement comes after news broke earlier today that Jennie was in the process of producing a solo album, which is expected to be released in June.
Recently, all four members of Blackpink have started their own solo activities after not renewing their individual contracts with YG Entertainment. Jennie participated in the variety show "Apartment 404" and shared, "I really like mysterious stories and wanted to give this gift to my fans after a long absence from TV shows."
Zico debuted as a member of K-pop boy group Block B in 2011, before transitioning to a solo rap career about three years later. Known for his distinctive musical style, he has produced a series of chart-topping hits including "Boys and Girls" (2015), "Any Song" (2020), and "New Thing" (2022).
Particularly notable are his frequent collaborations with trendsetting artists, including his 2018 collab “SoulMate” with singer IU, which dominated Korean music charts to widespread acclaim.
