Also attending the ceremony were Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Le Huu Duc, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Minister of National Defense; Major General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee; representatives of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of the Long Bien District People's Committee; representatives of 5 famous families whose streets were named after them.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of Long Bien District People's Committee Dinh Thi Thu Huong said that the five streets named today are: Senior Lieutenant General Dao Dinh Luyen (1929-1999), Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, former Deputy Minister of National Defense ; Comrade Dao Hinh (1894-1955), a loyal revolutionary soldier, son of Cu Khoi, Long Bien; Comrade Dao The Tuan (1931-2011), Hero of Labor, former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Rural Development Science; Comrade Vu Dinh Tung (1895-1972), former member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, former Minister of War Invalids and Veterans; Martyr, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Ta Dong Trung (1948-1977), pilot of Regiment 923, Division 372, Air Defense - Air Force.
Dao Dinh Luyen Street (Long Bien District) starts from the intersection of Doan Khue-Dao Van Tap Street in Vinhomes Riverside Urban Area and extends to the intersection of Nguyen Van Linh Street. The street is 1.4km long and 30m wide.
Senior Lieutenant General Dao Dinh Luyen, born in 1929, died in 1999, from Quynh Hoi commune, Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province. Born into a farming family, he participated in revolutionary activities from March 1945. He was the former Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense. He made many contributions to the army and the revolutionary cause of the nation. With these achievements, he was awarded the First Class Independence Medal by the Party and the State, the Hero of the People's Armed Forces (posthumously awarded in 2014) and many other noble medals and orders.
The naming of new roads and streets demonstrates the attention and close direction of the District Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Long Bien District; the seriousness and responsibility of the departments and offices of the district and the People's Committees of the wards; and the consensus and support of all classes of people in the area. Thereby, it has contributed to the good implementation of urban management and administrative management; creating favorable conditions for organizations and individuals in administrative, economic , cultural and social transactions. The roads and streets named after famous people and national heroes have contributed significantly to educating historical and cultural traditions, patriotic traditions, and national pride for all classes of people in the area, especially the young generation.
At the nameplate ceremony, Colonel Dao Minh Dao, Deputy Director of the Finance Department, Ministry of National Defense (son of Senior Lieutenant General Dao Dinh Luyen) was moved to say: “This event and the presence of all the delegates in today's solemn ceremony once again affirm the tradition and morality of drinking water and remembering its source of our nation. It shows the respect and gratitude of today's generation for the contributions of our predecessors, famous people, and high-ranking generals of the army who have gone down in history with their outstanding contributions to the cause of national liberation, building and defending the country. This is truly an emotion, honor, and pride not only for our families but also for our homeland and clan, and is also a great source of motivation for us to follow in the footsteps of previous generations. At the same time, it educates future generations about the exemplary role models, dedication, and noble sacrifices of our ancestors for the goal of national independence, peace, and happiness. the happiness of our country today".
