During the phone call, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed his pleasure to meet Mr. Yoshida Yoshihide again in his new position as Chief of the Joint Staff of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. On behalf of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong sent his best wishes to General Yoshihide, and believed that in his new position, General Yoshihide would achieve many successes, make positive contributions to the cooperative relationship between the Vietnam People's Army and the Japan Self-Defense Forces, and further deepen the Vietnam - Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership .
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong emphasized that defense cooperation between Vietnam and Japan has been promoted recently, achieving many practical results. The two sides have signed many important cooperation documents, serving as a basis for promoting cooperation contents. The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense highly appreciates the cooperation and support of Japan in the fields of education, training, United Nations peacekeeping , support programs to improve Vietnam's capacity for air rescue, underwater medicine, etc.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to focus on promoting cooperation in the following areas: Exchange of delegations at all levels, search and rescue, and cooperation between military branches and services.
Agreeing with the proposal of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, General Yoshida Yoshihide emphasized that the bilateral relationship with Vietnam is one of the most important relationships for Japan. General Yoshihide expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to effectively maintain the consultation mechanism between Navy - Army - Air Force staff officers; effectively implement support programs to enhance capacity in air rescue, aviation medicine, underwater mine clearance, underwater medicine, etc.; and at the same time, increase exchanges and delegation exchanges between forces participating in UN peacekeeping operations at missions.
The two sides agreed that after the phone call, they will continue to closely coordinate and make efforts to further promote the cooperative relationship between the Vietnam People's Army and the Japan Self-Defense Forces, for the benefit of each country and for peace, stability and common prosperity in the region.
