* Pig price in the Northern region
According to the latest survey, the price of live pigs continues to increase in the Northern region. In particular, many more provinces are trading at 69,000 VND/kg, including: Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Vinh Phuc and Nam Dinh, the same price as Hanoi, Tuyen Quang, Bac Giang and Thai Binh .
The remaining localities in the region purchased live pigs at around 67,000 - 68,000 VND/kg. Of which, 67,000 VND/kg was recorded in Lao Cai and Ninh Binh.
*Pig price in the Central Highlands region
In the Central region, prices increased by 1 in: Lam Dong and Dak Lak, both reaching 67,000 VND/kg; Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai increased in price, reaching 65,000 VND/kg.
Currently, the Central provinces are buying and selling live pigs at around 64,000 - 68,000 VND/kg. Of which, the highest price in the region is 68,000 VND/kg recorded in Thanh Hoa.
*Pig price in the Southern region
In the southern market, the price of live pigs increased in Ho Chi Minh City, reaching 67,000 VND/kg. Also this morning, the price of live pigs in Hau Giang and Dong Thap also increased, reaching 65,000 VND/kg.
Accordingly, live pigs in the South are trading at around 63,000 - 67,000 VND/kg. Specifically, Kien Giang, Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces still maintain the price of 63,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the region.
*China will return to its position as the world's top pork producer in 2024, accounting for 46% of global pork production, according to the latest data. After a sharp decline in the pig herd due to African swine fever, China has regained production capacity thanks to rapid farm reconstruction.
China's output is expected to reach 56.8 million tonnes in 2024, approaching the record set in 2014. The US and Spain will take second and third place, with 12.7 million tonnes and 4.8 million tonnes, respectively, followed by Brazil, Germany and Russia.
