Tiger Woods gets another disappointing result in the rematch.

The Bahamas returned to the Hero World Challenge 2023 after an eight-month break from the PGA Tour due to health issues, but Tiger Tiger still failed to break into negative territory due to three bogeys near the end of the second round.

The 2023 Hero World Challenge took place on the Albany par-72 course in the Bahamas, with Round 2 on December 1st. Woods finished 15th with a tournament score of +1. This was a commendable result, though it's a shame that the former world number one American lost his momentum towards the end of the course, similar to Round 1.

In the opening round, Woods went up -1 with a birdie on the 14th hole but double-bogeyed the 15th, bogeyed both the 16th and 17th, and held par on the 18th. This performance brought Woods down to +3 and placed him 18th. The tournament had 20 players, all well-known on the PGA Tour, with no cut, but the points awarded were based on the men's professional golf ranking (OWGR).

In the second round, Woods proved he was still formidable in the first nine holes despite approaching 48 and having a body full of injuries. During that period, Woods didn't bogey, recording four birdies with the same pattern – using an iron to putt the ball within 1.8 meters of the hole and then puttingt to finish. Thanks to this, the 15-time major winner and 82-time PGA Tour champion reached a round score of -4, holding his lead until the 12th hole. But from holes 13 to 16, he recorded three bogeys, the most significant of which was on hole 15 – putting the ball into a sand trap on a putt nearly 20 meters from the target. He got caught in that trap on his second putt, 182 yards from the flag.

Thanks to a fifth birdie on the 17th hole and a par on the 18th, Woods raised his round score to -2 and his tournament score to +1. Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler are currently leading the men's professional golf world rankings (OWGR) at -9.

"Unfortunately, I fumbled a few holes near the end. That's understandable after months without playing in a tournament. But overall, this round was better than the previous one. This is progress that I'm pleased with. This tournament also helped me assess my fitness and skills to plan for future competitions," Woods said on Golf Channel after the second round.

The 2023 Hero World Challenge marked Woods' return after eight months away from the sport recovering from injury.

"Tiger" last competed in a tournament in April. At that time, the former world number one American was competing in the Masters major, but withdrew from the third round due to a recurrence of plantar fasciitis in his right foot. A few days later, he underwent surgery and left the timing of his return open.

Almost two weeks ago, Woods announced his participation in the 2023 Hero World Challenge. This tournament, part of the PGA Tour calendar, which he has hosted since 2000, also serves to raise funds for his own charity.

Over the past 26 years, "Tiger" has won 15 majors and currently holds the record of 82 wins on the PGA Tour, tied with legend Sam Snead. However, in the course of achieving this immense feat, he has undergone at least 10 surgeries due to professional injuries, most notably to his left knee and the rest to his back.
