Previously, on January 22, fishing boat number BTH 99231TS, 16.8 m long, total main engine capacity 420 CV, fishing trawl while on the way to Cua Tung storm shelter area to avoid the monsoon, ran aground at Cua Tung inlet, about 100 m from Cua Tung bridge, the area where the fishing boat ran aground was on a sandbar in the water area in front of Cua Tung fishing port. The fishing boat crew included 5 people, with Mr. Nguyen Truong Hoai, residing in Tan Linh village, Tan Phuoc commune, La Gi district, Binh Thuan province as captain.

When the incident occurred, 3 fishing boats assisted in the rescue, but the ship was flooded into the hold. The Quang Tri Fishing Port Management Board coordinated with relevant agencies and units to use the Cua Tung Fishing Port's boat rescue ropes to tow the ship, but the ropes could not withstand the load and broke in many parts.

Currently, due to big waves, strong winds, and shallow waters, the rescue work has been temporarily suspended and plans are being made to hire divers to use buoys to float the boat so that it can be towed for rescue. However, we must wait for the waves and winds to subside before we can do this.

According to the fishing boat owner, although there were no casualties, if the boat cannot be pulled out of the stranded area, the fishing boat, which has an investment value of about 1.6 billion VND, will be completely damaged.
