Finding relatives for abandoned children

This afternoon, February 20th, information from the People's Committee of Ward 4 (Dong Ha City) indicates that the local authorities are taking steps to find the relatives of a baby abandoned in front of Kieu Dam Pagoda in Quarter 4.

Earlier, at approximately 8:50 PM on February 8th, the People's Committee of Ward 4 received a report of an abandoned newborn baby at Kieu Dam Pagoda. The baby is female, approximately 6 months old, and in stable health. When found, she was wearing a long-sleeved blue and white striped shirt, green pants, and wrapped in a pink shawl. Alongside her were five sets of baby clothes and diapers, a box of warm baby porridge, and a letter.

The letter stated that the baby's mother was still in school and therefore lacked the means to raise her child. As a result, she decided to leave the baby at the temple's doorstep, entrusting the nuns to care for and raise it.

According to Nguyen Tai Hoang Na, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ward 4, the Ward 4 People's Committee has temporarily entrusted the child to the person who found him for care and upbringing. The local authorities are widely publicizing the information so that the child's relatives can come and complete the procedures to reclaim the child. If, after 7 days from the date of the announcement, no one contacts the People's Committee of Ward 4 to claim the child, the Ward 4 People's Committee will proceed with the procedures according to the law.

Previously, in July 2023, a newborn baby boy was also abandoned in front of Kieu Dam Pagoda along with a letter asking the pagoda to raise him because his mother was away studying.
