The spirit of Ly Tu Trong

The seminar "The Spirit of Ly Tu Trong - The Aspiration of Youth" was organized to honor and express gratitude to the generations of ancestors who sacrificed for national independence.

The seminar is an opportunity for all levels of the Youth Union nationwide, the Party Committee and people of Ha Tinh to continue to emulate the hero Ly Tu Trong, thereby promoting patriotic emulation movements, contributing to spreading the aspiration for dedication among each Youth Union member and young person, as well as promoting the pioneering role on all fronts, contributing to building the homeland and country, and steadfastly following the revolutionary path chosen by the Party, President Ho Chi Minh and our people.

The workshop received enthusiastic and responsible participation from leaders and former leaders of central committees, ministries, departments, and organizations; experts, scientists , researchers, practitioners; generations of youth union officials; and outstanding young representatives.

The papers presented at the conference analyzed and focused on clarifying three main contents: The spirit of Ly Tu Trong - Lessons for young people today; Ly Tu Trong and his homeland of Ha Tinh; The spirit of Ly Tu Trong - Aspirations of Vietnamese youth in the new era.

The presentations at the conference contributed to clarifying many details and information about the revolutionary life, spirit, and heroic sacrifice of Comrade Ly Tu Trong. They focused on analyzing and highlighting the admirable qualities of the first Communist Youth Union member and the valuable lessons from his life for generations of Vietnamese youth to learn from and emulate.

In particular, the discussions focused on affirming the heroic sacrifice of Comrade Ly Tu Trong and how the flame of his revolutionary spirit has "ignited" the younger generation.

Ly Tu Trong's famous statement before the High Court, "The only path for youth is the revolutionary path; there can be no other," is considered a "manifesto" on the ideals and purpose of life for young people. It reflects the responsibility of young people towards the destiny of the country, linking national interests with the interests of each young person; affirming that the choice of life for young people is linked to the survival of the nation and the people.

It also embodies the patriotism, unwavering commitment to ideals, and indomitable revolutionary spirit of the people of Ha Tinh throughout all periods.

From the revolutionary spirit of Comrade Ly Tu Trong and other revolutionary predecessors, present and future generations of youth union members can draw many valuable lessons in the work of gathering, propagating, educating youth, and developing the organization in the context of the new situation...

We are even more proud that from the very beginning, before the Party was founded, until today, our Party has always highly valued and given special attention to young people.

In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Luong, Permanent Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, affirmed: The contents of today's workshop are invaluable materials for the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in implementing propaganda and education activities for the younger generation, linking them with the example of Ly Tu Trong and other young heroes.

This also serves as a basis for relevant agencies to continue researching and establishing new solutions, constantly innovating the content and methods of educating revolutionary ideals, ethics, and cultural lifestyles for union members and young people; enhancing patriotism, national pride, and the readiness of the younger generation to contribute to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.

"Looking broadly, from Comrade Ly Tu Trong and the first generation of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union members to the more than 6 million members and over 20 million young people in Vietnam today; from our predecessors who carried within them patriotism, embraced the light of Marxism-Leninism and became the first communists, to the millions of cadres and party members today, we feel immense joy at the growth of the Party, the Youth Union, and the political system."

"We can strongly affirm that the Party's leadership has brought about tremendous achievements for the revolution. We are even more proud that from the very beginning, before the Party was founded, until today, our Party has always highly valued and given special attention to the youth," Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Luong emphasized.

Ly Tu Trong, whose real name was Le Van Trong, was a young communist soldier born on October 20, 1914, into a patriotic Vietnamese expatriate family in Thailand. His ancestral home was Ky Viet village, Viet Xuyen commune (now Viet Tien commune, Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province). Ly Tu Trong was a shining example of patriotism, directly guided and nurtured by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc and other revolutionary leaders, and he quickly embraced revolutionary ideals. Ly Tu Trong bravely sacrificed his life at the young age of 17, but his indomitable spirit struck fear into the enemy and provided immense strength and motivation to the revolutionary movement throughout the country. His immortal words before the colonial court: "The only path for youth is the path of revolution; there can be no other path" became a guiding ideal, a spiritual weapon, and a compass for action for Vietnamese youth of all times.
