According to the Mirror , new manager Enzo Maresca wants to speak directly with Grealish to convince the English midfielder to continue his commitment to Man City. This is seen as a major turning point because Grealish was no longer in Guardiola's plans and had to move to Everton on loan last season.

The relationship between Grealish and Guardiola is believed to have soured towards the end of last season. The 30-year-old star was even left out of the squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the USA, before deciding to seek a new challenge at Everton in an attempt to salvage his career.

Despite having some impressive performances at Everton, Grealish's season ended prematurely due to a fractured foot injury in January. This injury caused him to miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup with England.

Previously, Grealish had almost certainly decided that his long-term future no longer lay with Man City if Guardiola remained in charge. Everton also wanted to sign the former Aston Villa captain permanently. However, Guardiola's departure could change the situation.

According to Mirror , Maresca believes Grealish is still capable of playing a crucial role in Man City's new system. The English midfielder will enter the final year of his contract next month and is expected to rejoin the team in July to prepare for their Asian tour.

Despite going through a difficult period, Grealish has maintained close relationships with many of his teammates at Etihad, especially Erling Haaland. He was also a key player in Man City's historic treble-winning campaign three years ago.
