• VIETNAMESE SOCIAL WORK - INNOVATIVE, CONNECTED AND PROFESSIONAL
Lam Dong Department of Health requests that interested units direct the implementation of activities to respond to and celebrate the 9th Vietnam Social Work Day in 2025 with the theme of Vietnam Social Work - Innovation, Connection and Professionalism.
This is an occasion to honor the noble values and humanistic significance of the social work profession; to recognize the role and contributions of social workers in participating in solving problems of individuals, families, communities and society, contributing to ensuring the implementation of human rights, fairness, social progress and happiness of the people.
At the same time, promote the tradition of "helping each other" and the spirit of love, mutual support, solidarity and mutual assistance of the Vietnamese people; attract the attention of all classes of people to actively participate in helping individuals, families and communities in difficult circumstances and promote the role of social workers.
Organize activities to celebrate the 9th Vietnam Social Work Day in 2025 for cadres, civil servants, public employees, and social workers at agencies, units, and local social assistance facilities to ensure solemnity, economy, efficiency, and suitability to the practical situation.
Organize activities such as seminars, forums, exchanges, sharing, honoring... with the participation of cadres, civil servants, employees, and students to raise awareness, knowledge, skills, and activities about professional social work at agencies and units.
Pay attention to promoting propaganda activities about the purpose, meaning and importance of the social work profession and the 9th Vietnam Social Work Day in 2025 to spread and honor the noble values and humanistic significance of the social work profession, especially recognizing the role and contributions of social workers in participating in solving problems of individuals, families, communities and society, contributing to ensuring the implementation of human rights, fairness, social progress and happiness of the people.

• ABOUT 40% OF THE COUNTRY'S POPULATION NEEDS ASSISTANCE FROM SOCIAL WORK SERVICES
According to the World Federation of Social Workers, social work is an activity aimed at creating social development through participating in the process of solving social problems, helping people develop fully and harmoniously and bringing a better life to all people, playing an important role in social life, protecting human rights, dignity, human values, social justice and equality, promoting the building of a harmonious society for the happiness of all people.
In Vietnam, in 2010, the Prime Minister approved the Project on Developing Social Work Profession for the period 2010 - 2020 with the following goals: Developing Social Work into a profession in Vietnam; raising awareness of the whole society about the social work profession; building a team of social work cadres, civil servants, employees and collaborators with sufficient quantity and quality requirements, associated with the development of a system of social work service providers at all levels, contributing to the construction of an advanced social security system.
Since then, social work has been officially considered a professional profession with the issuance of training codes and civil servant codes.
According to the Project, the number of people who need assistance from social work services currently accounts for about 40% of the country's population. This is a significant number for the responsibility of the social work sector in general and of social workers in particular.
With the aim of honoring the noble values and humanistic significance of the social work profession, recognizing the contributions of social workers, contributing to ensuring the implementation of human rights, fairness, social progress and happiness of the people, on September 15, 2016, the Prime Minister decided to take March 25 every year as Vietnam Social Work Day.
This is also an opportunity to recognize, evaluate and honor the noble values and humanistic significance of the social work profession; to acknowledge the role and contributions of social workers in participating in solving problems of individuals, families, communities and society; at the same time, to contribute to promoting the tradition of "helping each other" and the spirit of love, mutual support and assistance of the Vietnamese people, attracting the attention of all classes of people to actively participate in helping individuals, families and communities in difficult circumstances and promoting the role of social workers to work together towards an increasingly better society.

• RECOGNIZE THE ROLE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF SOCIAL WORKERS IN THE HEALTHCARE SECTOR
Previously, Lam Dong Department of Health also directed units under Lam Dong Department of Health to organize activities to celebrate Vietnam Social Work Day 2025, ensuring practicality, effectiveness, and suitability to the characteristics and situation of each unit.
The purpose is to raise awareness among leaders, managers and officials about the value of social work activities in the health sector; to honor the noble value and humanistic significance of the social work profession; to recognize the role and contributions of social workers in the health sector; to attract the attention of all classes of people to actively participate in social work activities in the health sector.
Based on the characteristics, situation and specifics of the health sector, units can choose appropriate forms: Organizing a rally to celebrate Vietnam Social Work Day; exchange and experience sharing activities, honoring those working in the field of social work with the participation of social workers, philanthropists, patients and their relatives; propaganda on mass media; organizing counseling activities, mental health care for patients in the hospital.
The content of the activities aims to promote and introduce the activities and achievements of the unit in the field of social work in hospitals; honor, reward and recognize the positive contributions of social workers in the health sector.
