Currently, the review work of high schools has moved to the final stage, mainly systematizing knowledge and instructing test-taking skills for students. In order to achieve exam results, the education sector in many localities has proposed effective review and knowledge consolidation solutions. In Bac Giang province, according to Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Bach Dang Khoa, the local education sector organized a mock exam for 12th grade students.
Based on the results of the mock test, schools will strengthen appropriate solutions to improve the quality of review; help students practice their psychology, knowledge, and test-taking skills. During the mock test review process, schools will help students get familiar with the structure of the graduation exam; and strengthen coordination between schools, families, and students in preparing for the upcoming exam.
This exam not only assesses students' learning outcomes but also serves as a basis for universities and colleges to enroll students. Therefore, the Department of Education and Training of Bac Giang province has requested schools to seriously assess students' training and learning outcomes for each semester and the entire school year, ensuring honesty and objectivity. Schools also compare and contrast learning outcomes through tests to assess the progress of each student, thereby organizing appropriate review sessions for each student.
In the current “sprint” phase, educational institutions have assigned teachers with professional competence and much experience to help teachers with less experience in organizing exam preparation; assigning good students to support students with poor performance. During the exam preparation process, the Department will regularly inspect to promptly direct and support schools.
In Hanoi, in addition to organizing review sessions for students at school until the exam date, the Department of Education and Training encourages students to review on television. Director of the Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that in 2024, the city will have more than 100,000 12th graders and about 5,000 independent candidates in the area who will take the high school graduation exam.
Therefore, in addition to implementing many activities to support teaching and reviewing for students in class, the Department has selected excellent teachers in three subjects: Literature, Math, English from high schools in the area to organize review sessions for students on television and digital platforms. The assigned team of excellent teachers will be responsible for developing lecture content and exercises to consolidate knowledge in each review period until June 26, in order to support students in self-studying to achieve the highest efficiency.
The task of schools at this time is to closely follow the review situation; systematize knowledge, help students grasp the four levels of exam requirements: Recognition, understanding, application and high application. Student Bui Thi Khanh Linh, class 12D, Tien Phong High School (Me Linh, Hanoi) said that every day, teachers assign review questions and mark them right in class; weaker students continue to receive additional knowledge. "In the morning and afternoon, I review the exam with my friends in class. In the evening, I review knowledge by myself and practice more types of exam questions to avoid making mistakes in basic questions. In preparation for the upcoming exam, I have mastered the regulations as well as knowledge and skills to take the exam" - Linh shared.
Teacher Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, Literature teacher at Tien Phong High School, said that teachers who review for students always guide them to allocate time to review and take the test appropriately. Teacher Mai Anh shared: "As both a homeroom teacher and a Literature teacher, I am a bridge between teachers and teachers, teachers and parents to help students review and grasp information quickly and effectively."
Teacher Le Trung Kien, Principal of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Long Bien, Hanoi) said that, based on the reference exam questions of the Ministry of Education and Training as well as the results of student surveys, at this time, the school organizes review classes according to the wishes and levels of students to suit practical requirements.
From May 15, the school will conduct a survey and practice test taking to screen each student, from which to organize a separate remedial class for weak students who have scored below 5 points on the three test. For students who have not yet mastered the lesson due to slow perception or laziness, teachers will ask their parents to review the lesson at home through the sent outline in the form of video recordings answering questions. In case students have not completed the test according to regulations, the homeroom teacher will coordinate with the subject teacher to require the student to come to school, return the test to the teacher and only leave when they understand it.
The school also recommends that parents pay attention to health, food safety, traffic safety, accident and injury prevention, especially developing a self-study plan for their children to achieve high results.
According to education experts, to improve the quality of review, schools need to strengthen the direction of professional groups and teams to analyze the types of questions, levels, and content in the published reference test, thereby adjusting the plan to suit the students' abilities. Teachers need to orient and guide students to get familiar with many different types of questions with content related to the knowledge units from the reference test, and prepare mock test sets for students to review and try.
Although the requirements of this year's exam have not changed much, the amount of knowledge required is so extensive that teachers must spend time reviewing knowledge and checking students' test-taking skills...
2024 is the final year of the high school graduation exam implemented according to the 2006 general education program. Therefore, the review work is basically stable, with only a few adjustments to the content related to the application of practical knowledge to gradually approach the orientation of assessing learners' capacity and qualities according to the 2018 general education program. The review content of the 2024 exam closely follows the four levels of the exam: recognition, understanding, application and high application; consistent with the goals of the graduation exam.
