This is the option mentioned by the Department in the draft resolution on special policies to support tuition fees for preschool children, public and non-public high school students and continuing education students in the area from the 2025-2026 school year. The draft is being consulted with relevant departments and branches.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council officially approved a special policy to support and exempt tuition fees for public and non-public secondary school students and continuing secondary education students in the 2024-2025 school year.
If the policy is passed, both preschool children under 5 years old and high school students will not have to pay tuition fees (except students at foreign-invested schools).
According to information from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, this will be a meaningful and practical gift for all students in the city, marking the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification. Along with that, the tuition fee exemption and reduction shows the city's attention and investment in education, leading in tuition fee exemption and reduction policies, ensuring the quality of education and learning opportunities for the people.
Group 1 includes students in Thu Duc city and districts: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan depending on the grade level will be supported from 120,000 VND to 200,000 VND. Group 2 includes schools in Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio districts depending on the grade level will be supported from 100,000 to 120,000 VND.
The Department estimates the implementation cost for the 2025-2026 school year to be 653 billion VND, taken from the city budget.
