On the evening of February 19th, the prices of gold and silver both increased sharply.

(NLĐO) - The rapid increase in gold and silver prices on the international market has led to a sharp rise in the prices of SJC gold bars, gold rings, and various types of silver in the domestic market.

On the evening of February 19th (the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year), world gold prices rose close to the $5,000/ounce mark, trading at $4,992/ounce – an increase of about $20 compared to the morning.

Throughout the day, gold prices fluctuated sharply, at one point reaching $5,020 per ounce – a total increase of approximately $120 per ounce compared to the previous session.

Following the upward trend in gold prices, world silver prices also jumped to $78.6 per ounce, an increase of approximately 1.66% compared to the previous session.

During today's trading session, the price of silver briefly approached $80 per ounce, rising by approximately 8% over the past two days and reaching its highest level in a week.

According to analysts, the sharp rise in gold and silver prices is due to investors' demand for safe-haven assets amid concerns about geopolitical instability, especially escalating tensions between the US and Iran.

In Vietnam, at the end of February 19th, the price of SJC gold bars on the free market also increased sharply. Some shops announced buying SJC gold bars at 177.9 million VND/ounce and selling at 180.9 million VND/ounce – an increase of about 900,000 VND compared to the morning. Overall, on the third day of Tet (Lunar New Year), the price of SJC gold bars increased by 1.9 million VND.

Gold prices continued to rise today.

The price of 99.99% pure gold rings and jewelry also rose, with some shops trading around 165.6 million VND/ounce for buying and 168.1 million VND/ounce for selling – an increase of about 800,000 VND compared to the morning and a total increase of about 2.2 million VND compared to yesterday.

Due to the Lunar New Year holiday, major companies like SJC, PNJ, and DOJI have stopped trading, resulting in significant fluctuations and price differences between SJC gold bars at various gold shops.

Before the Lunar New Year holiday, SJC gold bars were sold by SJC and PNJ at approximately 181 million VND per tael; Phu Quy Group sold them at 179 million VND per tael. The difference between the buying and selling prices of gold bars between businesses ranged from 2-3 million VND.

Meanwhile, some silver companies continued trading throughout the Lunar New Year holiday. Ancarat Silver Company announced the buying price of silver bars at 2.94 million VND/ounce and the selling price at 3.03 million VND/ounce - an increase of nearly 200,000 VND compared to yesterday.

Silver prices also rose sharply at the end of the day.
