'I don't have a role of a lifetime.'

I respect the creative team's storytelling approach.

- The series "Our Family Suddenly Has Fun" has reached its final stages. How does Lan Phương feel right now?

We've been on quite a long journey together. The project lasted eight months, and everyone worked together to create the story, a finished product. I think the film delivers a message that will make many people think.

My most striking impression of the audience's reaction was the love-hate relationship they had with the character of Ha. People's emotions constantly shifted. Initially, there were many conflicting opinions about Ha. At times, the audience really liked the character, but then when a certain situation arose, they turned against her. It kept shifting like that. Fortunately, towards the end of the film, the character of Ha became more beloved.

For me, when playing the role of Ha, every scene was emotionally charged. Even the happy scenes required concentration, planning, and the creation of genuine emotion to convey the humor and charm. However, viewers might pay more attention to the sad scenes because they have a clearer impact on the character's psychology and emotions.

Some people think Ha is too childish and selfish?

In fact, every woman has a different personality. Some are calm and mature, while others are childlike and innocent. Depending on their circumstances and environment, women will either change or retain their true nature.

Ha is sometimes very childish and adorable, and at other times she has to be proper. Ha is lucky to have a loving and supportive husband and in-laws. However, Ha is gradually changing and maturing every day.

Initially, I didn't like Ha at all. If you just skimmed the script, you'd only see things that audiences perceive about Ha—selfish, noisy, and spoiled... Slowing down a bit, I thought I could make Ha a more lovable character, and her negative traits could be seen as those of a child needing guidance to become a better person.

This is an opportunity for the audience to see a different side of me, instead of the screaming, crazy Diệu from "A Lifetime of Grudges " or the tragic Khánh from "Love on a Sunny Day ." With the role of Hà, people will see a more youthful and humorous energy from me.

According to Lan Phuong, she was initially offered the role of Phuong. Ultimately, the audience saw Phuong in the role of Ha. Why is that?

That was the director and producer's decision. Perhaps later on, people felt that Ha had more emotional states, was harder to portray, and more multifaceted. Therefore, this character allowed me to showcase many of my abilities. That's the answer I received.

- Some viewers were disappointed when "Our Family Suddenly Becomes Happy" descended into tragedy, especially in the final episodes. What are your thoughts on these reviews?

Every film receives many reviews from the audience upon its release. Everyone has their own opinion. In the " Our Family Suddenly Has Fun" team, the work of the producer and director is more difficult; they have to synthesize various elements and decide which direction the story should take to achieve the best results from their perspective.

We respect the creative team's storytelling approach. As a professional actor, I strive to understand my character, my story, and to deliver the best performance possible in accordance with the script.

"I don't judge the work of my colleagues or those around me. I always try to do my best in my job."

"Doan Quoc Dam is a talented and versatile actor."

- Not only "Our Family Suddenly Has Fun," but many Vietnamese films nowadays are being made using a "sequential" method at an extremely fast and rushed pace. In your opinion, what difficulties do actors face with this filmmaking method?

In my opinion, the sequential filmmaking method is not new; many film industries around the world have adopted this approach. Accordingly, the film crew will base their storytelling on the audience's emotions to guide the narrative in the most appropriate direction.

For me, the challenge in a film is at the beginning of the story. I don't know where my character will go, what the ending will be, or how their personality will develop. However, I see it as an interesting challenge. My approach is to thoroughly research the character in the early stages, to understand them, to become like the character themselves. Once you understand the character, no matter what happens, they will maintain their initial perspective, thoughts, and way of seeing things to resolve situations and events later on.

- Adjusting the script based on audience reaction can also have the opposite effect. Even some popular series that extend their episodes are considered tedious.

I don't judge much about how my colleagues or those around me work. I always try my best in my job. Besides, if there are any requests on set, the director handles them.

With the cast and crew of "Our Family Suddenly Comes Joyful ," I think I'm lucky to have worked with such talented actors. They are all very emotional and energetic. During filming, I felt like we were a real family. Therefore, the family scenes came much easier.

Furthermore, the screenwriting, cinematography, and directing teams are all young people. They have open-minded and progressive thinking. We felt quite comfortable sharing, exchanging ideas, and respecting each other's opinions during the filmmaking process to achieve the best results.

- What about your co-star Doãn Quốc Đam?

Even without my assessment, the audience can see that Doan Quoc Dam is a talented and versatile actor. I usually don't comment too deeply on my co-stars. For a more objective perspective, I think the audience are the most impartial judges.

I don't have a role of a lifetime.

- With so many films airing, it's possible for an actor to be involved in multiple projects simultaneously, which can become monotonous. Do you worry about this whenever you receive offers?

When I was working in Ho Chi Minh City, this situation was common. It wasn't uncommon for an actor to be juggling multiple roles or filming two or three movies simultaneously. Of course, some actors might find it difficult to portray different characters. But I, and I believe many other professional actors, can do it. They know how to make each character distinct according to the script's requirements.

While filming "Our Family Suddenly Has Fun," I was also working on another project: a Lunar New Year television series set in a hellish village , and a film called " The Soul Eater." Although I was playing two roles simultaneously, I managed to bring out two different energies and feelings in each character. I think I did a good job.

- How did you get your first acting role?

Like many other actors, my beginnings were as an extra. I'm glad it gave me the opportunity to apply what I'd learned to real-life filmmaking.

Besides acting in television dramas, I'm also a stage actor. I'm quite fortunate to always get leading roles, so I get to experience the deep and multifaceted psychology of the characters. Those experiences carry with me into my films and plays. Every day I tell myself I have to do better.

In the theater, I'm fortunate to always get leading roles. I had the opportunity to enter and begin my career at a theater and film school. Those experiences have carried over into film. Every day I have to do better.

- Could the role of Dieu in "A Lifetime of Grudges" become a milestone marking a breakthrough and turning point in Lan Phuong's career?

I usually leave the judgment to the audience. When I get a role, I try my best. I don't have a concept of a career-defining or breakout role. Each character has its own moment and time. I believe that once I've completed a role, it's done and it becomes the past. Now, my challenge is to make the present better than yesterday.

- After your time on set, how do you spend it with your family?

When I'm not filming, I dedicate all my time to my family and my child. My daughter is only 5 years old and she really needs her parents' attention. So, no matter how tired I am from filming, I always try my best to spend quality time with her. In addition, I take advantage of the time to manage my business.

Lina rarely watches the movies I star in because she usually goes to bed around 9 PM. Occasionally, she watches clips on TikTok and has started to get a concept of what my acting job is like. That is, I'm doing something not very realistic, like pretending to cry or laugh… However, she doesn't pay too much attention to it.

Right now, my husband and I are both observing our daughter to see what she's capable of. I think at this age, she's discovering herself. Lina has excellent memory, logic, and creativity. Additionally, she enjoys physical activities like swimming and loves reading.

- How does your foreign husband support your artistic career?

My husband makes a clear distinction between work and personal life. He's always supportive and wants me to have more opportunities in my career.

Actually, I don't have any strict rules when it comes to acting. However, as a professional actor, I will work professionally. After filming, I usually go straight home to my child. When I was single, I dedicated time to myself. I rarely went out with friends, so it was unlikely that any awkward situations would arise. I didn't intentionally restrict myself, but it's simply my personality.

- Currently, cyberbullying is a major concern. As a celebrity, do you feel pressured by negative messages or comments on social media?

I've moved past the point where I was negatively affected by social media. I'm someone who rarely has scandals or problems that would draw much criticism.

Of course, there were also four or five times when I felt pressured by negative comments about myself. I spent a whole week in a state of delirium and anxiety. But then, I became stronger and realized that the best way to deal with it was to stop reading the comments. It's as simple as that.

Whenever I see negative comments, I just skim through them to see that such opinions exist. What's important is that I know who I am, what I'm doing, and how I need to improve. Therefore, I'm not affected or influenced by the opinions around me.

That's one of the things I want to give my children. When you have strong inner strength, you'll always be steadfast enough to do everything you want and won't be affected by the negativity around you.

As we all know, sometimes online stories are just a few words typed out without thinking, or a place for people to express their opinions. When I understand the essence of the issue, I'm not affected. Ultimately, it's just online chatter; you can just turn off the internet and it's over.
