The Victory Parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Red Army's defeat of Nazi Germany, ending the Great Patriotic War, took place on May 9 at Red Square in Moscow.

General Secretary To Lam attended the event with many world leaders such as General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel, and President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro.
Before going to the Red Square stage to watch the parade, President Putin welcomed 27 international leaders at the Kremlin.
In addition to Russian forces, military delegations from 13 countries participated in the parade, including Egypt, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Mongolia, Laos, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, China, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
Block 68 soldiers of Army Officer School 1 represented the Vietnam People's Army to participate in the event. The soldiers were aged 19-30, 1.8 m or taller. These were officers, lecturers, and students with well-proportioned bodies, performing command movements quickly, strongly, and accurately.

According to the Ministry of Defense , Russia's invitation to Vietnam to send troops to participate in the parade at Red Square on May 9 shows respect and appreciation for Vietnam's role, and is also a testament to the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, especially in the fields of defense and military technical cooperation.
Vietnam's participation in the parade contributes to affirming its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification, demonstrating Vietnam's responsibility in building and maintaining an environment of peace, stability, cooperation and development.
General Secretary To Lam and his wife are on an official visit to Russia from May 8-11, at the invitation of President Putin.
Vietnam and Russia celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. The two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012. There are about 60,000-80,000 Vietnamese people living in Russia. Bilateral trade turnover in 2024 will reach 4.58 billion USD.
Regarding education and training cooperation, the Soviet Union previously helped Vietnam train nearly 40,000 officials and experts. Currently, Russia continues to support Vietnam in training human resources and there are currently more than 5,000 Vietnamese students studying in Russia.
