General Secretary To Lam receives Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin

On the afternoon of January 14th, at the Party Central Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam held a cordial meeting with Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the significance of the visit and welcomed the results of the talks and meetings with high-ranking Vietnamese leaders; he stated that the visit was very important, taking place precisely on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and being Mr. Mishustin's first visit to Vietnam in his capacity as Prime Minister of Russia.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure at the results of cooperation achieved by the two countries in the past period, especially after the State visit to Vietnam by Russian President V. Putin in June 2024; he believed that this visit by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin would further realize the cooperation contents that the two sides had achieved and set out major directions to promote bilateral relations.

General Secretary To Lam conveyed warm greetings and New Year wishes to Russian President V. Putin, Chairman of the United Russia Party, Deputy Chairman of the Federal Security Council D. Medvedev, and other Russian leaders.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always remembers the valuable and heartfelt support and assistance that the people of the Soviet Union and the people of Russia gave to Vietnam during the arduous years of resistance, as well as in the cause of national construction and defense; he affirmed that Vietnam attaches special importance to the traditional relationship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, and always considers Russia a top priority partner in Vietnam's foreign policy.

General Secretary To Lam outlined several major directions for further deepening Vietnam-Russia relations in the coming period.

Expressing his pleasure at visiting Vietnam for the first time, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin sincerely thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to receive the delegation; respectfully conveyed the warm greetings of Russian President V. Putin and other high-ranking leaders of the Russian Federation to General Secretary To Lam; and respectfully reiterated the Russian President's invitation to General Secretary To Lam to attend the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and to pay a bilateral visit to the Russian Federation in 2025.

Prime Minister Mishustin sincerely congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development achievements in recent years and expressed his confidence that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will continue to achieve many successes in bringing the Vietnamese nation into a new era of strong, prosperous, and thriving development.

In informing the General Secretary about the results of his talks with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin affirmed that Russia highly appreciates Vietnam's efforts in overcoming difficulties and promoting bilateral cooperation in recent times, helping the two countries achieve remarkable achievements in all fields.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin shared that, amidst the volatile and complex global and regional situation, Russia always cherishes the loyal and friendly feelings of the Vietnamese people towards Russia. He affirmed that, in its foreign policy, Russia always considers Vietnam one of its most important priority partners in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in Southeast Asia, and is ready to expand cooperation and further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership in all areas: economy and trade, energy, defense, security, science and technology, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

In an open and cordial atmosphere, General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mishustin shared some major aspects of the situation in each country; and agreed on a number of major directions to further deepen the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
