The Russian President begins his visit to China.

(HTV) - On May 20th, Chinese President Xi Jinping presided over the official welcoming ceremony for Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing. This was Putin's 25th visit to China.

A motorcade escorted Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the morning of May 20th.

Next, both delegations proceeded into the hall for bilateral talks.

Speaking at the meeting, President Xi Jinping said that President Putin's visit was of historical significance, marking an important milestone in bilateral relations.

In his speech, Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed that steadfastly promoting long-term, stable, healthy, and high-quality Sino-Russian relations is a strategic choice based on the core interests of both countries and the general development trends of the world .

Here, the two leaders agreed to extend the Sino-Russian Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation – a document considered the foundation of the strategic partnership between Moscow and Beijing.

On the Russian side, President Vladimir Putin stated that the common goal of the two countries is to bring prosperity and happiness to the people of both Russia and China.

Following talks in Beijing, the Russian and Chinese delegations signed a total of 20 cooperation documents in various fields, witnessed by President Putin and President Xi Jinping.
