According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 25th, at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong and his wife, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his wife will pay a state visit to Vietnam from January 29th to 30th.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang, this is President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s first visit to Vietnam since taking office.
"Over the past period, Vietnam-Philippines relations have developed well in many fields. Political cooperation has been strengthened with many high-level visits, meetings, and contacts. Economic cooperation between the two countries has made positive progress," Ms. Hang said.
The Philippines is Vietnam's sixth largest trading partner in ASEAN and sixteenth largest globally. The Philippines continues to be Vietnam's largest rice export market.
Cooperation in other important areas such as security and defense, education and training, labor, culture and tourism continues to be emphasized. The two countries continue to maintain close coordination at regional and international forums such as ASEAN, the United Nations, and APEC.
The spokesperson said that during the visit, President Marcos is expected to hold talks with President Vo Van Thuong, meet with key Vietnamese leaders, and participate in several other important activities.
