According to Russia's TASS news agency, on the afternoon of March 21 Moscow time, the same evening Vietnam time, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping had an official meeting at the Kremlin.
The Chinese leader arrived at the Kremlin and was received with the highest protocol for a head of state. In the second floor hall of the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin personally welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping. Both leaders went to the St. Greygory Hall to inspect the honor guard and play the national anthems of both countries.
Speaking before the talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized: "We have agreed to allow the press to take a joint photo. To surprise the press, we will hold a closed-door meeting."
Afterwards, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a closed-door meeting in the St. Catherine's Hall. The formal talks took place in the Alexander Hall and the signing ceremony of documents took place in the Malakhit Hall.
The leaders will issue a joint statement afterwards and a state banquet will be held at the Kremlin.
Earlier, on the afternoon of March 21, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The Chinese leader invited the Russian Prime Minister to visit China in 2023. According to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the two countries need to resume regular meetings between the leaders of the Russian and Chinese governments. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin accepted the invitation.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is on a state visit to Russia from March 20 to 22. On March 20, Chinese President Xi Jinping had an informal meeting that lasted 4 hours and 30 minutes with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
