On the morning of October 30, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City held a ceremony to announce the merger of 4 administrative units into 2 administrative units according to the resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the merger of commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period.

According to the decision, Buon Ma Thuot City will merge Thang Loi ward into Thanh Cong ward and keep the name Thanh Cong ward. The new ward has a natural area of ​​2 km2 and a population of 26,086 people.

Similarly, Thong Nhat ward was merged into Tan Tien ward, named Tan Tien ward. After the merger, Tan Tien ward has a natural area of ​​2.8km2, population of 28,491 people.

After completing the merger of 4 commune-level administrative units, Buon Ma Thuot City will have 11 wards and 8 communes left.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Vu Van Hung, Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee, said that the merger of the above 4 administrative units into 2 administrative units was according to the resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

According to Mr. Hung, during the merger process, the locality always received close leadership and direction from the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, attention, assistance and coordination from the Department of Home Affairs and departments and branches of Dak Lak province. In particular, it received attention, agreement, support and comments from cadres, party members and people of all walks of life in the area.

"Despite the huge workload, with the utmost efforts of the leadership of the City Party Committee, Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee and related units, the locality submitted the merger project to the Provincial and Central People's Committees on time. The project was rigorous and highly appreciated by the Prime Minister and central agencies, praising the proactive and positive spirit of Dak Lak province and Buon Ma Thuot City," said Mr. Hung.

Buon Ma Thuot City is the pioneer locality of Dak Lak province to merge commune-level administrative units before Buon Ho town, Ea Sup district and Krong Bong district.
