This information was provided by a representative of the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology) at a press conference on the socio -economic situation in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of May 28th.
The basis for this assertion, as stated by the representative of the Sub-Department, is that through regular market surveys and on-site monitoring since leading enterprises such as Petrolimex and PVOIL began testing their products in August 2025, the system has not recorded any complaints or reports from the public regarding technical malfunctions or damage to machinery and vehicles.

E10 gasoline will be sold nationwide starting June 1st.
According to representatives from the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality, many independent and rigorous scientific research projects have been carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with leading specialized units, such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Hanoi University of Transport.
Practical results have demonstrated the high compatibility of E10 gasoline with the types of engines currently in circulation in Vietnam, similar to the previous transition to E5 gasoline.
"In major consumption hubs like Ho Chi Minh City, the monitoring of this product is clearly defined to maintain market stability."
"In this process, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade is in charge of licensing, managing supply and demand, pricing, and ensuring the progress of the implementation roadmap. The Department of Science and Technology continuously checks measurement indicators and quality, helping people feel confident using E10 gasoline without worry," a representative of the Sub-Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality said.
Furthermore, to protect consumer rights before the large-scale transition, the entire legal framework and technical standards applicable to E10 gasoline have been issued simultaneously.
According to Circular 50/2025, E10 gasoline will be sold nationwide starting June 1st.
E5 RON 92 gasoline will continue to be blended and formulated for use in gasoline engines until the end of 2030 to ensure compatibility with older motorcycle models.
Currently, many major fuel distributors have taken the lead in widely deploying this type of biofuel at their affiliated gas stations nationwide.
Specifically, from May 15th, nearly 1,000 PV OIL gas stations nationwide have been selling E10 gasoline. The Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) will also switch to selling E10 gasoline on May 20th.
E10 gasoline is defined as a mixture of unleaded gasoline and fuel ethanol, with an ethanol content of 8% to 10% by volume.
Globally, gasoline blends containing 8% to 10% ethanol (10% is known as E10) have proven safe and have been widely used for many years in countries such as the United States, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand for most common vehicles.
