Ho Chi Minh City removes obstacles for key projects, speeds up public investment disbursement

(HTV) - Key projects in Ho Chi Minh City, typically the Tham Luong - Ben Cat - Nuoc Len canal project, are being constructed day and night but at the same time are facing many challenges. Therefore, the City leaders are resolutely directing the removal of difficulties to speed up the disbursement of public investment.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the construction atmosphere at key projects is taking place very urgently, especially at the Tham Luong - Ben Cat - Nuoc Len canal infrastructure improvement project. With a length of more than 63 km, this project is considered one of the important driving forces for urban development. However, the implementation process is facing significant obstacles, directly affecting the common goal of accelerating the disbursement of public investment in the entire City.

Efforts to remove "bottlenecks" from the field

Currently, the dredging work at the Tham Luong - Ben Cat - Nuoc Len canal project has been completed and the units are focusing on constructing the roads along both sides. Although the actual construction volume has reached more than 68% and the entire route is expected to be technically opened to traffic by the end of the year, the project still faces two major challenges.

Land clearance problems are one of the major challenges of the project.

The first is the issue of land, there are still 14 cases that have not been resolved, making it impossible for machinery and materials to access some construction areas. Mr. Vo Viet Cuong - Deputy Head of Project Management Board 4, Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Board said: "We regularly coordinate closely with the locality to organize many contact campaigns, hoping that the ward and commune authorities and the GPMT compensation board will help us resolve these 14 cases".

Second is the shortage of construction materials, specifically sand and stone. To complete the project, about 1.4 million cubic meters of sand is needed, but domestic supply is almost unable to meet the demand. Therefore, contractors are forced to import sand from Cambodia at a cost twice as high as the original estimate. The decisive involvement of leaders

Faced with the common difficulties that many projects are facing, Ho Chi Minh City leaders have given close instructions. Comrade Tran Luu Quang - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized the need to establish a "special task force" for 47 important projects to dramatically increase the rate of public investment disbursement. At the same time, he also proposed to study a separate policy to submit to the City People's Council on the handling of landfill materials, in order to bring materials directly to the construction site without going through intermediaries to increase prices.

Ho Chi Minh City's efforts have also been recognized at the central level. At the National Conference on Promoting Public Investment in 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the fact that Ho Chi Minh City is one of the localities that has been allocated large capital and has a disbursement rate higher than the national average. The Prime Minister requested to promote public investment more strongly and effectively, because this is the seed capital to activate and mobilize all social resources, contributing to promoting growth and improving people's lives.
