The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board (abbreviated as the Urban Infrastructure Board) said that the unit is preparing to start the Xuyen Tam Canal Project through Binh Thanh and Go Vap districts (package XL-03, length 1,300 m).

Currently, the section through Go Vap district has handed over 69.2% of the land; the section through Binh Thanh district has handed over 87.6%.

It is expected that by the end of April 2025 and the beginning of May 2025, Go Vap and Binh Thanh districts will complete handing over the site to the investor.

The Urban Infrastructure Board said that in this project, the volume of land clearance is very large, especially for houses along canals, and the legal documents for real estate are complicated.

The 2024 Land Law takes effect from August 1, 2024 and the accompanying decrees and guiding documents have many changes compared to the 2013 Land Law.

Recently, the Urban Infrastructure Board coordinated with Go Vap and Binh Thanh districts and related departments to advise the City People's Committee to issue decisions on measures and support levels to remove difficulties and obstacles for people.

To ensure the project's progress as planned, and to be able to start construction of packages XL01 and XL02 before September 2, 2025, the City People's Committee has resolutely removed difficulties and obstacles related to site clearance.

Xuyen Tam Canal is one of the most heavily polluted spots in Ho Chi Minh City. For the past two decades, people have had to live in makeshift, dilapidated houses along both sides of the polluted canal, severely affecting their lives and health.

According to the decision approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the project to dredge, improve the environment, and build infrastructure for Xuyen Tam canal from Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal to the mouth of the Vam Thuat river has a total length of more than 8.8 km. The project has a total investment of VND 17,229 billion (adjusted due to changes in the Land Law).

The project will build a protective embankment on both sides, dredge the canal bed to a depth of 3.5 m; canal width from 20-30 m, build a wastewater drainage system, traffic roads along both sides of the canal with a scale of 2 lanes...
