"Food safety must be done regularly and continuously all year round. Otherwise, food provided to people will still have many potential risks and incidents can happen at any time," Ms. Lan emphasized.
The head of the Department of Food Safety said that the food safety month of 2024 will be a time for the city to increase inspections and surprise checks to promptly detect and handle violations. The highlight of the program is unannounced inspections of kitchens at schools in the area.

"Food poisoning prevention and treatment must be done effectively. Special attention should be paid to crowded communal kitchens such as school canteens, hospitals, companies, factories, and export processing zones... Food poisoning must not happen at all costs," said Ms. Lan.

Ms. Lan also noted that to ensure food safety, it is necessary to raise people's awareness when choosing to buy food with clear origin, at reputable establishments. Avoid buying floating goods. Next is knowing how to preserve and process food properly.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Food Safety ( Ministry of Health ) shared that online business is becoming more and more popular. Food is also a product that is increasingly sold online.
According to Mr. Long, selling food online poses many potential risks to food safety and makes it difficult to ensure origin and quality. In addition, food safety issues in and around schools that affect students’ health and cause public outrage also need more attention.
Mr. Long requested that the monitoring, management and handling of violations in food advertising need to have changes suitable to reality.
The Food Safety Action Month 2024 will focus on 3 main areas of activity at all sectors and levels.
Strengthening inspection and examination work at all levels: Food safety inspection teams of the Department of Food Safety; interdisciplinary inspection forces of districts, wards and communes; forces of economic police, environmental police and market management strengthen inspection and examination work, especially surprise inspections to promptly detect and handle violations;
Prevention, detection and handling of violations: The main prevention work is to pay attention to issues related to collective food, canteens in schools, companies, hospitals, enterprises, export processing zones... places where large numbers of people eat; Conduct surprise inspections...
Strengthening propaganda and raising community awareness: Raising people's awareness of food safety issues and emphasizing that food safety is about taking care of yourself and your family, not just anyone's job.
