Ho Chi Minh City strengthens handling of violations in apartment buildings

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City assigned the Department of Construction, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City and districts to base on the operation of apartment buildings and rental service establishments with high population density in the area to proactively develop inspection and examination plans, promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle violations of construction order in accordance with their authority and legal regulations; strictly implement the direction of the Chairman of the People's Committee of the City.

In addition, the Police force, Thu Duc City People's Committee and districts, based on the proposed opinions of the Department of Construction, proactively develop solutions to strengthen state management of the above-mentioned type to ensure suitability with the practical situation in the locality and meet the requirements and tasks of state management of the above-mentioned type of housing and rental service facilities.

At the same time, the authorities need to propose feasible solutions to overcome the shortcomings and limitations of apartment buildings and rental service facilities with high population density that are operating in the area but have not yet ensured conditions for fire prevention, fire fighting, and rescue.

Authorities will tighten management of apartment buildings and rental service facilities.

Immediately suspend operations of facilities that do not meet fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue safety conditions and pose a risk of fire or explosion, affecting the safety of people's lives, health, and property.

Notably, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction was assigned to research and post according to regulations the violations of investors and management and operation units that have many violations in the management, operation and use of apartment buildings, causing many disputes and frustrations for residents, and the Department of Construction Inspectorate has issued decisions to handle administrative violations on the Department of Construction's electronic information portal for people to know.

During the implementation process, if difficulties or problems arise that exceed the authority or the work content requires guidance from specialized departments and branches, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City and districts will proactively discuss and coordinate with units to agree on a handling direction according to authority and legal regulations.
