Ho Chi Minh City adds 2 more Tet holidays for students

After listening to the opinions of parents and considering the management agency, Ho Chi Minh City has decided to extend the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday by 2 days.

More than 1.7 million students in Ho Chi Minh City will have 11 days off for Lunar New Year 2025.

On the afternoon of December 12, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a document agreeing with the Department of Education and Training's proposal to extend the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday for students.

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved the proposal of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, agreeing to adjust the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule for preschool education , general education and continuing education.

Specifically, the Lunar New Year holiday for students will be from January 23 to February 2, 2025 (ie December 24 to January 5). Thus, students will have 11 days off, 2 days longer than the previous holiday schedule issued from the beginning of the new school year 2024-2025.

It is known that although the Tet holiday has increased by 2 days, it is still shorter than in recent years (ranging from 12 to 16 days).

Previously, the Lunar New Year holiday of 1.7 million preschool, primary, secondary and high school students in Ho Chi Minh City started from January 25, 2025 (December 26) to February 2, 2025 (January 5).

That means, students in Ho Chi Minh City have a total of 9 days off for Tet. However, many parents and students think that this is a short holiday.

Many people hope that students will have a longer holiday, especially parents who live far away and want to bring their children home for Tet.
