Ho Chi Minh City and Mastercard promote cooperation in digital transformation in transportation and payment

(HTV) - Ho Chi Minh City and Mastercard Group strengthen cooperation in digital transformation, expand modern payment systems in transportation and promote financial inclusion.

Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong received senior leaders of Mastercard at the headquarters of the City People's Committee.

On the afternoon of September 9, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong had a meeting with senior leaders of Mastercard Group, recognizing the important contributions of this enterprise in the city's digital transformation journey. Also attending were representatives of a number of departments, branches and units that are expected to implement digital transformation cooperation programs in the coming time.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong reiterated the outstanding results of cooperation between Mastercard and Ho Chi Minh City in recent times. Notably, the construction of an open payment system applied to many means of public transport, from metro, bus to river bus.

Appreciating Mastercard's contributions to Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong emphasized that this is an important step in modernizing transport infrastructure, promoting financial inclusion, and at the same time in line with the country's digital economic development orientation.

On Mastercard's side, Mr. Timothy Murphy - Vice President of the group, affirmed that the company will continue the nearly two-decade cooperation foundation with Ho Chi Minh City, continue to promote digital transformation programs, encourage cashless payments, and digital payments. Mastercard will also focus on deploying contactless payment solutions in transportation, while enhancing financial capabilities and comprehensive digitalization to enhance the utility of the digital economy.
