In recent days, storm No. 10 has caused serious damage to many localities: hundreds of thousands of households lost their homes and properties; many schools and infrastructure works were damaged and collapsed; the lives of people in the storm's center fell into difficulty. Responding to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Ho Chi Minh City called on all people, agencies, units, organizations and businesses in the area to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, affection and sharing to help people overcome natural disasters.
At the ceremony, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City received more than 35.6 billion VND from the joint support of organizations, businesses and people of the City. This amount of money will be immediately transferred to the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the provinces to promptly support people in flood-affected areas.
Previously, as of October 4, the total amount of money raised had exceeded 42.4 billion VND with 1,543 contributions. The city also spent more than 47.2 billion VND to support many localities, including Nghe An and Ha Tinh each with 15 billion VND, Quang Tri with 5 billion VND, Dien Bien and Son La each with 2.5 billion VND, and many other provinces such as Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Hung Yen, Dong Thap.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City said: “We encourage each cadre, civil servant, and public employee to contribute at least one day's salary. From now until November 30, the Ho Chi Minh City Relief Mobilization Committee will continue to receive, manage, and distribute donations, and arrange reception points in 168 communes, wards, and special zones for people to conveniently participate.”
According to Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, the spirit of solidarity and sharing of the people of Ho Chi Minh City is always a great source of motivation for people in disaster-stricken areas to have more confidence to overcome difficulties. Every contribution, big or small, is a precious heart, a timely encouragement sent to people in storm and flood areas.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City is committed to transparently and promptly using all donations to reach those who need them most, thereby contributing to the early stabilization of life and restoration of production.
In the coming time, the Ho Chi Minh City Relief Mobilization Committee will continue to coordinate with localities to synthesize needs, promptly transfer support resources, and contribute to helping people stabilize their lives soon after the storm and flood. This is not only material support but also shows the affection and spirit of mutual love of the people of Ho Chi Minh City towards people across the country.
