After the conflicting opinions about the restoration of the Japanese Covered Bridge relic temporarily subsided, in the past few days, on Facebook social network appeared images comparing the decorative plates on the roof of the Japanese Covered Bridge before and after the restoration and made the statement that the ancient plates on the roof of the Japanese Covered Bridge "were stolen".
On August 1, Mr. Pham Phu Ngoc, Director of the Hoi An Cultural Heritage Management and Conservation Center, affirmed that the information about "lost ancient plates" on the roof of the Japanese Covered Bridge after restoration posted on social networks was distorted and slanderous.
Photo on social media photoshopped and then questioned "ancient disc stolen during restoration"
Mr. Ngoc said that the entire facade plate of the bridge's eaves was numbered and reused to its original position up to 80%, the two ends of the bridge only replaced some plate positions that were completely lost.
In addition, the ridge and flow edges of the original plates with slight cracks were treated and returned. Specific details of these parts have pictures of the current status taken, recorded and completed.
In fact, the restored Japanese Covered Bridge relic still retains the same decorative plates on the roof as before. This can confirm that someone used a trick to edit the image with bad intentions. In addition, the images that the Facebook pages compared were taken in 2 different locations, one photo on the side roof and one photo at the entrance.

Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee also said that the image on the internet is not accurate. The disc installed on the Japanese Covered Bridge after the restoration used the old disc. Moreover, this is not an ancient disc, but only appeared after the restoration in 1986.
