On the morning of October 11th, Jennie (Blackpink) released the music video for "Mantra," marking her first official solo music release since leaving YG Entertainment and establishing her own company, ODD ATELIER (OA).

According to the description, "Mantra" is a powerful and energetic song that encourages people to shine in their own way and confidently create their own unique charm.

Jennie emphasized, "This is the perfect song to start a new era. It not only makes fans happy but also helps me showcase a new side of myself as a solo artist." Jennie also participated in writing the lyrics and composing the song.

The music video for "Mantra" quickly climbed to the top 2 of YouTube's global trending topics, and has now reached over 5 million views after just 7 hours of release.

However, Korean audiences have given mixed reviews of the music video.

On the online community theqoo, many comments praised "Mantra" for its catchy melody, Jennie's vocals, and her attractive figure.

However, many commentators also noted that the official music video for "Mantra" wasn't as captivating as expected from the teaser.

The MV "Mantra" features typical elements found in MVs released by European and American artists, lacking Jennie's unique and distinctive style.

Some other opinions suggest that "Mantra" resembles a popular pop song more than a K-pop song.

Some viewers also complained about the product's short length. The music video on YouTube is 2 minutes and 27 seconds long, while the song on Spotify is only 2 minutes and 14 seconds long, which is considered insufficient for listeners.

One viewer commented: “The release of an English song is clearly aimed at the overseas market. The song is good, but it has a very common style, so perhaps it's not a song with a big impact to attract much attention.”

Showing off butts and supercars is something you've seen hundreds of times in American hip-hop music videos. The lyrics are also like, "pretty girl comes to Los Angeles, sweeps everything clean," reminiscent of the hot girl image of the pop music scene.

Nowadays, most pop artists become famous thanks to autobiographical lyrics, but Jennie seems to be avoiding this trend.

Honestly, what can a Kpop star achieve with a sexy style?
