Patient NVL (56 years old, from Hau Giang province), was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Through examination and chest X-ray and CT scan results, the doctor recorded that the patient had multiple fractures of the left ribs; fracture of the left clavicle; hemothorax, pneumothorax; and lung contusion.
The patient underwent emergency surgery combined with treatment of the fractured bone with screws and plates, and pleural drainage. After 3 days of treatment, the patient's health stabilized, and he was discharged and is currently being monitored for regular outpatient check-ups.
Mr. L said that when he saw the dog crossing, he was startled and could not react in time, so he fell off his bike. Luckily, he fell on the side of the road, not outside, where there were many vehicles moving.
Dr. Tran Phuoc Hoa, Deputy Head of the Cardiology Department, Hoan My Cuu Long General Hospital, said that recently, doctors have provided emergency treatment to many patients who collided with livestock and poultry while traveling on the road, leading to many serious accidents, causing chest injuries and multiple broken ribs like this patient.
To ensure safety when participating in traffic, people should be careful, pay attention to observation, and control the speed according to regulations. In case of an accident, it is necessary to go to a medical facility for early diagnosis and timely and proper treatment, especially for closed injuries.
