Taking advantage of the time before the planting season, localities in Ha Tinh province are simultaneously launching campaigns to consolidate land plots, concentrate farmland, and form large-scale production areas.

As the locality tasked with completing land consolidation before the 2024 spring crop, Son Loc commune (Can Loc district) is taking advantage of the time before the planting season to accelerate land consolidation, breaking down small field boundaries and forming large plots.

The implementation of the land consolidation project in Can Loc has been met with approval and support from the people.

Mr. Than Van Vy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Loc commune, said: "Large-scale model fields with uniform planting seasons, varieties, and techniques in many localities inside and outside the district have yielded high productivity. Therefore, despite the difficulties in the conversion, officials and people are still united in overcoming them. The entire commune has 450 hectares of rice land, of which 112 hectares have formed concentrated production areas. The locality is making efforts to implement land consolidation and exchange for the remaining 338 hectares before the spring crop of 2024."

For the spring of 2024, the People's Committee of Can Loc district selected the communes of Thuong Loc, Tung Loc, Vuong Loc, Son Loc, etc., to implement land consolidation on a commune-wide scale; the remaining localities completed the target of consolidating and exchanging land plots, removing small field boundaries to form large plots covering over 50% of the area.

Mr. Phan Cao Ky, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Can Loc district, informed: “The district's rice cultivation area is over 9,000 hectares. Implementing Resolution No. 01-NQ/HU dated August 20, 2020, of the District Party Committee on land consolidation, forming concentrated production areas, strengthening linkages, and improving efficiency in agricultural production, Can Loc has so far achieved 3,300 hectares. The district aims to consolidate land on over 50% of the area by 2025. However, before the 2024 spring crop, localities have already registered to implement this on a total area of over 3,000 hectares, raising the total consolidated land area in the district to over 6,000 hectares.”

Leaders of Cam Xuyen district encouraged the people of Cam Duong commune to mobilize and consolidate their farmland.

At this time, localities in Cam Xuyen district such as Yen Hoa, Cam Duong, Cam Lac, Cam Thanh, Nam Phuc Thang... are also accelerating the formation of large-scale production areas to prepare for the new production season.

Mr. Le Ngoc Ha, Vice Chairman of the Cam Xuyen District People's Committee, said: "According to the plan, the entire district will cultivate 9,500 hectares of rice in the spring of 2024. The district also strives to implement land consolidation and exchange, concentrating farmland on an area of 700 hectares, raising the total concentrated production area in the district to 3,500 hectares. Local authorities are stepping up propaganda and mobilization efforts to gain people's consensus, mobilizing machinery and manpower to rehabilitate farmland, and developing solutions to mobilize resources to support farmers in implementing land conversion."

Determined to unlock the potential of the land, in recent years, localities in Ha Tinh have proactively implemented a "revolution" in land consolidation and exchange, concentrating farmland and breaking down small field boundaries to form large plots. These large fields, uniform in planting seasons, varieties, and techniques, have yielded superior productivity, creating a breakthrough in Ha Tinh's agricultural landscape. Clearly, land consolidation has contributed to promoting the application of technology in production; increasing productivity per unit area; accelerating the implementation of solutions for restructuring the agricultural sector; attracting businesses to commercialize production; and fostering linkages in brand building and product distribution.

According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Ha Tinh province, in the spring crop of 2024, the entire province aims to plant 59,120 hectares of various types of rice; among which Cam Xuyen, Can Loc, Thach Ha, Duc Tho... are the localities with the largest production areas.

As of September 2023, the entire province had consolidated land, forming large-scale production areas covering 10,669 hectares. At this time, taking advantage of the period before the planting season, localities are actively promoting and mobilizing the people to simultaneously consolidate land plots, breaking down small plots into larger ones, with the goal of achieving success in the new crop season.
