( Bqp.vn ) - On the afternoon of December 27, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to present the President's Decision to officers who are going to perform peacekeeping missions at the United Nations Interim Security Mission in Abyei (UNISFA). Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group, Deputy Head of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee for participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations, chaired the ceremony.

Accordingly, Major Hoang Dinh Cong was sent to replace Captain Le Khuong Duy, taking up the position of Light Engineering Staff Officer at the UNISFA Mission.

In his speech assigning tasks, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan requested Major Hoang Dinh Cong to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the viewpoints and foreign policies of the Party, State and Army; strictly comply with military discipline, regulations of the United Nations, laws of the host country, instructions of competent agencies and the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department. When operating in a multinational environment, it is necessary to quickly integrate, behave in a civilized and standard manner and demonstrate to international friends the capacity of Vietnamese officers in mastering language, organization, handling situations and high professionalism in work; at the same time, prepare well in terms of ideology and mentality, as well as do well in the family rear work. Always maintain good health, uphold the spirit of initiative, self-reliance, self-reliance, overcoming all difficulties, flexibility and creativity; ensure absolute safety for people and equipment; coordinate closely and maintain solidarity at the UNISFA Mission.

Emphasizing that Major Hoang Dinh Cong is preparing to deploy to the Mission on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan asked him to promote the tradition of the Army, the "blue beret" force of Vietnam, demonstrate the bravery and capacity, and spread the good image of the country and people of Vietnam, the Vietnam People's Army in the international arena.
Also at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan directed the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department to continue to strengthen personnel selection, prepare replacement and successor forces for the following years, ensuring strict procedures; select officers with sufficient qualities and abilities to meet mission requirements; and study the possibility of deploying forces to assume command positions of missions.

At the ceremony, Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, affirmed that the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies and units to seriously implement the task, in order to meet the requirements of the task of building an increasingly strong Vietnam Peacekeeping force. In the immediate future, it is necessary to build and organize forces of units and working groups outside the area; research and study to expand the area and forms of deployment, especially the unit form; organize to create sources and select forces from agencies and units throughout the army to focus on training, fostering knowledge, professional expertise, and be ready to deploy to replace individual positions and units to carry out UN peacekeeping missions in the coming time.
Expressing his honor at being assigned to carry out the UN peacekeeping mission, Major Hoang Dinh Cong emphasized that with the highest enthusiasm and determination, he will always maintain internal and international solidarity; strictly comply with the laws of the State and the host country, military discipline, and regulations of the United Nations; regularly study and evaluate the situation to proactively ensure security, safety and promptly handle situations when performing tasks; and excellently complete the tasks assigned by the United Nations and the Ministry of National Defense.
