Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vinh, Head of the High Performance Sports Department (Department of Sports and Physical Training), said that in order to effectively implement the Project "Selection, training, and fostering of sports talents and high performance sports human resources by 2035" (or Project 223 for short) according to the set roadmap and plan, the High Performance Sports Department is currently actively coordinating closely with departments, Federations, and National Sports Associations in selecting and nurturing young talents in selected sports.
Accordingly, in 2025, a number of pre-selected athletes will continue to participate in training courses abroad (possibly in Korea and China). This is considered one of the important preparation steps in phase 1 of the program from 2025 to 2030, and is also a premise for the next goals and phases.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training Nguyen Hong Minh emphasized that in order to ensure the consistency and effectiveness of Project 223, high-performance sports and related units need to frankly acknowledge and thoroughly evaluate the advantages to promote and find out the limitations and difficulties when implementing the Project. From there, promptly remove obstacles and bottlenecks, propose the best solutions and methods when entering the new phase of implementing the Project in the coming time.
Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh affirmed that Project 223 has high practical significance and value and will be a solid foundation to promote the development of high-performance sports in particular and key sports in general towards major arenas such as ASIAD and Olympics if implemented effectively, achieving the set goals and objectives.
It is known that the Program for developing key sports to participate in the Olympics and ASIAD in the period of 2026-2046 is reviewing and zoning the group of sports that have the potential to compete for medals in the ASIAD and Olympic arenas to focus on investment, avoiding spreading investment in many sports as originally planned by the Program.
In addition to specific achievement targets and implementation solutions, the Program must clarify and detail three main issues: investment costs for each subject, for each specific subject, resources and conditions to ensure facilities. Thereby, ensuring the persuasiveness and feasibility of the Program when applied in practice.
According to the plan, the draft of this Program is scheduled to be completed before April 30 and submitted to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration next May.
