Implement waste sorting at source starting in 2027.

According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the unit that recently advised the City People's Committee on the draft decision regulating the roadmap for implementing the sorting of household solid waste at source.

According to the draft decision, the applicable subjects include: domestic agencies, organizations, households and individuals; and foreign organizations and individuals involved in the generation, collection, transportation and treatment of solid household waste in the city.

Regarding the roadmap, by 2026, the People's Committees of communes and wards must issue programs, plans, or projects on sorting household solid waste at source; implement models for sorting, collecting, reusing, and recycling waste suitable to practical conditions; and organize the collection, transportation, consolidation, treatment, and recycling of sorted household solid waste in a synchronized manner, meeting environmental protection requirements.

From January 2027, 100% of agencies, organizations, households, and individuals in the city must sort waste into categories of reusable, recyclable, and hazardous waste in their daily lives.
