According to statistics, Ha Giang province has 2,817 martyrs' graves, of which 1,146 have partial information and 691 have unidentified information. Bac Quang district alone has 511 martyrs, of which 403 have unidentified information and 14 have unidentified identities. Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have directed the Provincial Police to coordinate with the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order, the Ministry of Public Security, the People's Committees of districts, cities, departments, branches and sectors to collect DNA from relatives of unidentified martyrs, including urgently reviewing data on remains of unidentified martyrs and the identities of families with unidentified remains that can be collected for comparison; cleaning up information on relatives of martyrs and creating a database on the national population database.

Immediately after the program, the units collected 19 DNA samples from the martyrs' mothers and relatives. At the same time, 2 working groups were established to go to fixed and mobile locations in the province, collecting 44 DNA samples from relatives of martyrs to serve the identification work, in order to quickly search, identify and bring the martyrs' remains back to their homeland and families.

Taking DNA samples from the families of unidentified martyrs is the first step in preparing for the identification of the remains of unidentified martyrs; it is an activity of profound humanitarian significance, demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" of the Party, State and people towards the great contributions of heroic martyrs.

At the program, the Provincial Police presented 63 gifts to relatives of unidentified martyrs who participated in sample collection.
