With its advantageous natural landscapes and numerous heritage sites reflecting the unique cultural identity of the ancestral land, Phu Tho has become an attractive tourist destination in recent years, offering promising prospects for the development of agricultural and rural tourism, while also supporting job creation and increasing income for farmers.

The unique cultural features of the Muong people in Kha Cuu commune, Thanh Son district, attract many photography enthusiasts who seek inspiration for their work.
Besides its abundant and attractive natural tourism resources such as Xuan Son National Park, Long Coc tea hills in Tan Son district; Ao Chau lagoon, Van Hoi lagoon, Ao Gioi - Suoi Tien in Ha Hoa district; May waterfall, Mo waterfall in Thanh Son district; Ly lake in Thuong Long commune, Yen Lap district... Phu Tho also has many traditional craft villages such as: tea processing village, Ba Dong weaving village, Duc My soy sauce making village, Lang Bo soy sauce making village, noodle and vermicelli processing village... These are favorable potentials for exploiting and developing agricultural, rural, and community tourism products in the province.
When visiting the province, tourists can not only explore scenic spots but also enjoy interesting experiences such as trying their hand at farming, sewing conical hats, making noodles, wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), harvesting agricultural products, visiting traditional craft villages... or simply taking souvenir photos with beautiful rural scenes such as village courtyards, lotus ponds, ancient houses, and village gates...
Mr. Vo Manh Thanh from Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province, said: “I have traveled to many places, but when I came to Long Coc tea hills, I was truly impressed by the beauty here. Hundreds of tea hills, like inverted bowls, the green of the tea intertwined with the morning mist, create a magical and enchanting scene. Experiencing the unique culture and cuisine of the Muong and Dao ethnic groups in Xuan Son National Park made me and my friends very happy and want to return to this place.”
In the first six months of 2024, Phu Tho's tourism sector showed significant improvement, with estimated tourism revenue reaching 2,697 billion VND, a 13% increase compared to the same period last year. The number of tourists also increased significantly, with an estimated 482,900 overnight visitors, including 5,470 international visitors, a 16% increase compared to the same period. A large number of tourists participated in tours visiting rural areas, experiencing and purchasing agricultural products, generating income for farmers in the province.
Based on the tourism development in recent years, with existing potential and advantages, some localities in the province have initially begun to exploit and serve tourism, yielding positive results from rural tourism and community tourism products in Xuan Son National Park; Long Coc tea hill, Gia Thanh conical hat village... associated with experiences in making conical hats, harvesting and processing tea, making noodles, wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes)...
Many farmers in the province have chosen a different path to economic development: community tourism. Some farming households have implemented models of investing in agricultural farms and orchards combined with sightseeing, photography, and purchasing agricultural products, such as the Ha Den grape vineyard in Lam Thao, Thanh Ba, the tangerine orchard in Tan Son, and the pomelo orchard in Doan Hung. This meets the needs of people who want to relax, immerse themselves in the fresh, peaceful atmosphere of the countryside, and enjoy fresh, safe fruits right from the orchards, as well as buy them as gifts for friends and relatives.
Developing agricultural and rural tourism has contributed to diversifying tourism products, attracting tourists to visit and experience, while also creating jobs, increasing income, improving the lives of local people, and promoting the natural beauty and culture of the ancestral land.
