Con Dao Airport.

Previously, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province proposed to study the planning, investment and expansion plan for Con Dao Airport to ensure it meets international airport standards under the PPP method, and to make overall investment in the entire project, including airport facilities, facilities to ensure flight operations, essential civil aviation facilities, and aviation service facilities, to be able to receive large, wide-body aircraft such as A320, A321, Airbus A350, and Boeing 787.

According to the Master Plan for the development of the national airport system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Con Dao Airport is planned for the period up to 2030 with a capacity of about 2 million passengers/year, and a vision to 2050 with a capacity of about 3 million passengers/year.

Currently, the runway and taxiway at Con Dao airport have degraded and have poor load-bearing capacity, due to being built since 2004. The 30m wide runway does not meet the standards for operating code C aircraft, and can only accommodate aircraft such as the ATR72 and equivalent (Embraer E190/E195 with reduced load).
