BHG - These days, the new spring is peeking through the doorways, and people's hearts are filled with excitement, joining in the spring season of the nation. The achievements in economic growth and social welfare that the northernmost region of the country has reaped over the past year add another branch of spring to the beautiful spring season of our homeland.

The past year has been filled with difficulties and challenges, yet our country has still achieved great accomplishments. Contributing to these overall achievements, the Party Committee, government, and people of Ha Giang are proud to look back at the results achieved in the province's socio-economic development over the past year. Under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the people of Ha Giang's ethnic groups have united to ensure the province's socio-economic development continues to be stable. The economic growth rate is estimated to increase by over 5% compared to 2022. Total social investment reached VND 15,077.4 billion, an increase of 10.85% compared to the same period. Tourism experienced strong growth, with the number of visitors reaching 3 million, an increase of 32% compared to 2022. Import and export turnover reached USD 293.58 million, a 3.5-fold increase compared to 2022.

2023 marked the mid-term implementation of the targets set forth in the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress. Party committees and authorities at all levels continuously innovated their thinking, demonstrating dynamism and creativity in leadership and management, strengthening the building and rectification of the Party and the political system to ensure their purity and strength. They effectively implemented the socio-economic recovery and development program and three national target programs; promptly addressed difficulties and obstacles for businesses and supported the people in developing production and business. Many key projects and works were launched, especially the Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang Expressway Project (Phase 1). Policies for war veterans, poverty reduction, social security, and improving people's lives were effectively implemented.

A new, peaceful, and prosperous spring is emerging with noticeable changes from the city center to the remote villages, difficult-to-access, and border regions of the province. Economic zones are undergoing strong shifts in thinking and action to achieve breakthroughs and progress. In particular, the low-lying mountainous areas, including the districts of Vi Xuyen, Bac Quang, Quang Binh, and the city center of Ha Giang, are focusing on exploiting their agricultural potential with high-tech applications, developing citrus fruit crops such as yellow oranges and Sành oranges, and large-scale livestock farming. The western districts, Hoang Su Phi and Xin Man, are prioritizing the development of Shan Tuyet tea and high-quality rice brands linked to ecotourism. The northern highland districts are effectively leveraging the advantages of the UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Karst Plateau in conjunction with tourism development. Developing integrated farming chains for yellow cattle, black pigs, and mint honey... These unleashed economic potentials have contributed to changing the face of the northernmost countryside, bringing a prosperous spring to every household.

Spring arrives, bringing with it the blossoming of countless flowers and the sprouting of new leaves and buds. Spring also awakens in everyone expectations of new development and success. This aspiration begins in the bamboo groves and village lanes, with the radiant appearance of the New Rural Area. The desire for development spreads to the highlands and remote border regions, igniting a spirit of national unity to work together to firmly protect the nation's borders and frontiers. The firmness of national sovereignty lies not only in the land and mountains of the Fatherland but also in the stronghold of the people's hearts, ensuring that the border regions remain peaceful every spring.

The country confidently enters the new year 2024 with the aspiration to achieve many accomplishments. In keeping with this spirit, the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Ha Giang continue to promote the strength of great unity, self-reliance, and self-improvement, implementing comprehensive and effective socio-economic development tasks. They will mobilize and effectively utilize all resources to promote economic growth, focusing on the province's three breakthroughs and five key tasks. The goal is to achieve a Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate of 7.5% in 2024; a per capita income of 40 million VND; and a reduction in the poverty rate of over 4%.

This spring morning, along the border, peach and pear blossoms have painted the forests a vibrant red. Spring is bringing a fresh burst of energy to everyone, invigorating their will and aspirations for a new journey of striving. Building on the successes of 2023, and with a strong desire to rise higher, we believe that in the new year, our northernmost homeland will continue to achieve even greater accomplishments, bringing happy springs to its people.
