China's Ministry of Natural Resources issued a yellow tsunami alert - the third-highest in a four-tier warning system - for some coastal areas at 10:19 a.m. on July 30 , following a magnitude 8.8 earthquake off the east coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, according to China Daily.
The tsunami forecast center predicts that this wave will likely hit Shanghai at 7:09 p.m.

China's tsunami warning center called on the government and relevant departments to take disaster prevention and mitigation measures.
Coastal residents should follow government instructions to evacuate in an orderly and safe manner.
When people observe signs of an impending tsunami, they must stop all activities and move quickly to higher ground.
The center stressed that all tsunami warnings must be taken seriously, as the destructive power of tsunamis varies depending on coastal terrain. People should stay in safe areas until the warning is lifted.
Meanwhile, many areas in Russia were flooded after the first tsunami hit.
Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov said the region had experienced "the strongest aftershocks in the past decade". Head of the regional Emergency Situations Service Sergey Lebedev said a tsunami 3-4 metres high had been recorded in Kamchatka's Elizovsky district, and urged people to stay away from the coast.

The first tsunami waves also hit the coast of Severo-Kurilsk. Witnesses said the Alaid fish processing plant and a local port were flooded by the tsunami, with some of the strongest waves reaching 5 meters high.
Tsunami also hit the US state of Hawaii, with the Haleiwa area recording tsunami waves higher than 1 meter.
Previously, Japan also issued a tsunami warning and ordered evacuation in some areas to ensure safety.
