According to Xinhua News Agency , this second rehearsal took place from 5:30 p.m. on August 16 to 3:30 a.m. on August 17 at Tiananmen Square, with the participation of about 40,000 people, including drill participants and on-site support staff.

The organizers said that all processes were organized in an orderly and closely linked manner, achieving the expected goals.

According to The Standard , security measures were stepped up starting at noon on August 16 around Tiananmen Square and the Great Hall of the People. By evening, roads around Chang'an Avenue were restricted to pedestrians and vehicles with special event permits.

Previously, in June 2025, China announced that it would hold a celebration, including a military parade, at Tiananmen Square in Beijing on September 3 to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japanese fascism, marking the end of World War II in Asia.

The parade will include marching formations and military equipment. All equipment is domestically produced and currently used by the Chinese Army.
