Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy: Brave and compassionate female Deputy Chief of Ward Police

A brave and creative leader

Born and raised in a farming family in Tay Ninh province, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy's childhood was associated with sunny and windy afternoons in the fields and her dream of growing up to become a police officer to protect peace for everyone. That dream motivated the female student to study hard and passed the entrance exam to the People's Security University.

After graduating, she was assigned to work in Dong Nai province; in 2010, she transferred to work, assigned to the task of security reconnaissance at the Ninh Hoa Town Police (old), Khanh Hoa province. After that, she was assigned the following tasks: Staff work, command at the grassroots level. No matter what position she held, she always strived and devoted herself to her work, completing the assigned tasks excellently. With a spirit of learning, eagerness to learn, and the will to strive and practice, in 2014, she successfully defended her master's thesis in the field of investigation and reconnaissance, achieving excellent grades.

Thanks to her constant efforts and struggles, in 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy was appointed as Chief of Ninh Da Ward Police (old Ninh Hoa town). After the ward was merged, she was appointed as Deputy Chief of Ninh Hoa Ward Police. She was fully aware that the new task would be full of difficulties and challenges, because the area was relatively complicated in terms of security and order (SOT). However, firmly holding the view that SOT can only be truly sustainable when relying on the strength of the people, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy proactively advised the unit's leaders to coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to carry out many propaganda activities, mobilizing people to unite and actively participate in protecting SOT. Outstanding movements such as the "All people protect national security", the "Security Camera" model, the "Zalo connecting local police with the People" model... have attracted a large number of people to respond and participate, especially in reflecting and providing quality information, contributing to helping the police force quickly and promptly grasp and effectively handle issues related to local security and order. In the two years 2023 - 2024, there were no serious crimes in the ward; crime decreased significantly... The ward police were recognized as "Determined to Win Unit", and were awarded the Third Class Military Exploit Medal by the President; the Ministry of Public Security awarded emulation flags; and many certificates of merit and certificates of merit from all levels of government... These outstanding achievements have had no small contribution and dedication from Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy.

Female warrior with great compassion

Not only does Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy always excel in her professional duties, she is also a compassionate police officer. When the Covid-19 epidemic broke out, dozens of tons of agricultural products from Ninh Hoa farmers were congested, while in quarantine areas, especially in the "epidemic epicenters", people lacked food. Understanding the difficulties of the people, she proactively connected with District 1 Police (Ho Chi Minh City) and the Women's Union of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police to organize a campaign to "rescue agricultural products". More than 30 tons of vegetables and tubers were delivered to people in Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City, bringing warmth, solidarity and sharing in difficult times.

Another touching story is about Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy. In early 2025, she discovered a 4-year-old child whose parents had left her and who was living with her elderly grandmother in a dilapidated house in Ninh Hoa ward. Every day, the grandmother and her grandchild collected scrap metal to make a living. Feeling sorry for the unfortunate situation of the two, Ms. Thuy discussed with the unit and decided to take care of the child until he was 18 years old.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy, a police officer not only has to be exemplary and strive to complete professional tasks well, but also has the mission of being closely attached to the people. She does not mind the difficulties of going to each household to grasp the situation, mobilizing people to implement the Party's policies and guidelines, the State's laws, and unite to maintain security and order. There are times late at night when the phone rings with urgent news, she is immediately present, with her colleagues handling the situation, ensuring peace for the people.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hai - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ninh Hoa Ward, acknowledged: "Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy is a shining example, a steadfast, courageous People's Police officer, always dedicated, responsible, devoted to her work, contributing to beautifying the image of police officers in the hearts of the people".

Colonel Nguyen Quan - Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, commented: "The achievements and charitable deeds of comrade Tran Thi Thu Thuy not only contribute to maintaining security and order in the area but also spread the trust and good feelings of the people towards the police force, further enhancing the beautiful image of the People's Police soldier, who forgets himself for the country and serves the people."

With outstanding achievements for many consecutive years, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy has received certificates of merit from the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province. Even more honorable, at the recent 9th Emulation Congress "For National Security", she was honored as one of 80 typical advanced models in the entire People's Public Security force. Sharing with us when receiving this title, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Thu Thuy emotionally said: "For police officers like us, although each person undertakes a different job, we all share the same ideal "for the peace of the People". I am very proud to attend the congress, to meet, exchange, study and share with comrades and teammates from all over the country, giving me more confidence and motivation. I promise to constantly strive to be more and more worthy of the uniform of a People's Public Security officer".
