Center for Disease Control investigates and assesses the nutritional status of mothers and children under 5 years old in 2025

On August 18, 2025, the Center for Disease Control organized a survey to assess the nutritional status of mothers and children under 5 years old in 2025. The survey schedule was from August 18 to October 28, at the Health Station and the villages and groups in the survey list to update the names of the survey clusters according to the location after the merger of the 2-level local government and carry out the work contents to serve the selection of survey subjects according to the instructions of the Institute of Nutrition.

The delegation will assess the nutritional status of mothers and children in 30 commune clusters according to the list provided by the Institute of Nutrition. At each investigated cluster, the working group will weigh and measure 51 children and interview mothers about their knowledge of child care; collect information and indicators related to breastfeeding, diet and micronutrient supplementation, vitamin A supplementation, child care and nutrition... During the weighing and measuring process, if children are found to be malnourished, mothers and caregivers will be advised and instructed on how to care for their children.

The content of the survey is to investigate the nutritional status of children under 5 years old, the weight of children at birth; to investigate the nutritional status and knowledge of child care of mothers with children under 5 years old; to investigate the coverage of vitamin A and taking multi-micronutrients, iron tablets; to investigate the food intake of children in the past 24 hours... This is an activity within the plan to improve the nutritional status of children in 2025 , the purpose of the activity is to collect data to report to the Institute of Nutrition and provide information on the investigation and assessment of the nutritional status of children under 5 years old in Cao Bang province in 2025.

From the survey results, the Provincial Center for Disease Control will enter data through software and send it to the Institute of Nutrition to determine the rate of malnutrition in children under 5 years old in the province in 2025. Thereby, there will be assessments and solutions, proposing appropriate policies to develop plans in the following years; striving to reduce the rate of malnutrition in children under 5 years old in Cao Bang province according to the set goals.

According to the plan, the whole province is expected to have about 1,530 children under 5 years old weighed and measured anthropometrically and about 1,530 mothers whose children participate in the survey will be measured for weight, height and interviewed.
